The comic strip The Jocks and the Geordies first appeared in the Dandy in 1975 and continued into the 90's.
 
The Geordies live in the town of Crosspatch which crosses the border between Scotland and England. The Georgies who were on the English side of town were constantly fighting with the Jocks who lived on the Scottish side of town. Their teacher, Mr Bigglesthwaite, would often give the boys the cane for their warring with the Jocks.
 
The names of the five Geordies are Sidney, Lanky, Cedric, Arnold and Egbert.
