With The Flash getting close to the end of the first season, people are already wondering if we're going to see an other speedster, aside from Reverse Flash, on this show. Originally reported by Comicbook.com, at the Paley Center at the Media Tonight event, a fan asked executive producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg if the audience will ever see a black Flash on the show.

They said they made the Wests African-American so that they could do in that direction. That's their hope for the show. Kreisberg went on to say that the reinvention of the African-American Wally West was in part to accommodate the television series.

"What's very cool is in the New 52 they hadn't reintroduced Wally [yet]," Kreisberg said: "when they reintroduced Wally, they made him African-American. So now and forever, Kid Flash will be African-American."

What do you think of the New 52 Wally West appearing on the show? How will he fit into the West household?

Well obviously, the whole reason Wally was changed was for this show (not that him changing race is bad or changes who he is).

It would have been better if he said "Once you go black, you can't go back"

Though I despise everything related to the Nu52 Wally, as long as this adaption will keep his pre-Flashpoint backstory (Though presumably he won't get his powers the same way) and personality I'll be satisfied.

Saying they new 52 Wally West sound so dumb, for all we know he could be black and have the personality of the old Wally, we don't know his personality yet, which has been the biggest complain about his new version.

WTF is wrong with turning heroes black... I still dont get this, its plain stuiped, if they want a black speedster then make a new one, but dont turn Wally black, dont turn johnny black, dont make Alan Scott gay, dont change what was, it ruins everything.

Miles Morales is black, but they didnt turn Peter black, so that was okay, but all the rest is just plain stuiped.

As long as they don't make him a frakking punk.......... I don't care. If they do? I already quit Flash's New 52 comic which I LIKED because I could not stand the gross assassination of Wally's character there. Make him black? Fine, whatever, I don't really care. Make him an ungrateful, villain loving, Flash hating, snotty brat? Yeah, screw whoever though THAT was a good idea to turn the Flash A VAST MAJORITY OF PEOPLE grew up with and new as THE Flash.

See his comment about the "African American" Wally bothers me, but not because I care that they changed Wally's race. I'm biracial, just like Wally is now, and I don't consider myself African American. There's as much of a difference between being black and being biracial as there is between being white and being biracial. All that aside, I can't wait for them to introduce Wally as long as they get his character right. Personally I think nu52 Wally is a brat, and I'd prefer him to be more like the original

He skin color means nothing if the character is not acting like Wally West. Say what you will but the New52 'Wally' is basicly generic african-American teenager with Wally's name slapped on it. That is insulting to both the character and us.

Also he says '' So now and forever, Kid Flash will be African-American '' . KID FLASH , not WALLY WEST. So if you are so creative about your series, create a new Kid flash like that and leave Wally alone dammit.

I was thinking more along the lines of "Lived-in-Blue-Valley-and-is-a-massive-Flash-fan" and less "Catches-a-disease-that-turns-him-into-an-adult".

@z3ro180: I don't mind so much, after all as long as he turns into the Wally everyone loves the origin isn't that important. That being said if you'd prefer they take a different route that's fine too, there's nothing wrong with that.

@captainmarvel4ever: new origins don't bother me. Racial stereotype origins bug me. Thoughe from what I have seen that's not the case here all that's changed is his skin colour and a few tweaks here and there.

As long as Wally has the same personality as pre-Flashpoint Wally, then I am all for this. I have HATED how they have changed Wally into a humorless punk in the New-52. Its so much unlike the Wally we all love. The fact that after they made him biracial wasnt a big deal, but the fact they made him a street punk is so lazy and stereotypical. Joe & Iris' race has NEVER been an issue on the show. The fact that they are black hasn't even been brought up on the show. They are characters before anything else. Its the definition of color blind casting. They could have been played by actors of ANY race, and there wouldn't be any changes at all. The same should be for Wally West.Wally can still be African-American, and still retain all of the likable qualities that pre-flashpoint Wally had.
