    Blood Runs Deep

    The Story:

Flash has to deal with a crazy ex-girlfriend named Frankie Kane who now calls herself Magenta. He soon learns her appearance is connected to the motives orchestrated by a new villain named Cicada. Later Flash fights the Weather Wizard who is after a child believed to be the son of Flash. Flash also solves a mystery at Iron Heights prison.

    My Thoughts:

This story arc is called "Blood Will Run" which I find a fitting title on so many different levels. Once again written by Geoff Johns, this explosive story wastes no time setting up as the action begins immediately. The pacing was as fast as the Flash which was great as we see him "Flash" forward from rogue to rogue in a bunch of dazzling panels. Of course it's not just pointless action, there's a story behind it in which Johns adds a new villain into the fold. Not your typical villain either. This one "worships" the Flash and is taking lives of people the Flash has saved. With a crazy psychopath like that, you know the Blood Will Run

I liked the way Johns continued to keep the readers attention by adding different plot twists. One of the most shocking ones is when Flash finds out he has a son. Then we receive yet another twist at the end of that issue when the Weather Wizard claims the son is his. I wont ruin the story anymore but you will find out whose son it is and once agin I feel as if the title is so fitting for this story.

Another plus about this comic is its length. You feel like you really get your moneys worth in this comic. The next part has Flash team up with Pied Piper to investigate a disturbance at Iron Heights prison. Iron Heights is a place where a lot of Flash Rogues are currently being held so this part was definitely awesome. I definitely enjoyed watching the outcome unfold that leaves potential for a plethora of stories to be told in future issues.

The art is by Scott Kolins, Etahn Van Sciver and Angel Unzueta. Most of it is by Kolins whose style I enjoyed a lot. I liked the soft coloring over his pencils, however at times I felt like the inks were much thicker then they needed to be. Nevertheless there were so many gorgeous panels designed by Kolins who captured the action sequences so well. Ethan Van Sciver as usual, is amazing. One of my favorite artists who always manages to impress me. I thought it was a great choice to have him illustrate the part taking place in Iron Heights prison. The darker part of the story in which he manages to capture the insanity of the inmates perfectly. Overall this comic offers great artwork to accompany Geoff Johns script.

This was such an awesome Flash comic and a great place to jump on if you're interested in reading Flash. It offers all the things you would want in a comic; action, drama, romance and a little detective investigation. Add all that to the amazing artwork contributed by the artists and this is an easy 5/5 comic.

    Rating: 5/5
