Iris goes on assignment for Picture News and falls prey to a satanic cult.
The Satan Circle
Picture News reporter, Iris West, is headed out to Hollywood, to follow-up on a missing persons story. Soon after, she phones her husband, police forensics scientist, Barry Allen, begging for help. Allen responds, as the Flash. Running all the way to Hollywood, the Flash races to West's last known location, the estate of film director, Robert Paley. The Flash finds a satanic figure burning in effigy on the front lawn, and a masked woman's corpse, floating in the swimming pool.
After revealing that the corpse is not West, the Flash puts outs the blaze, and enters the Paley estate. The Flash finds Paley, his wife, film crew and cast have all been slaughtered, their faces covered in satanic masks. Graffiti scrawled on the wall reads "The Satan Circle Was Here". After determining that none of the victims are West, the Flash continues his investigation, at the discotheques West researched on her last assignment. Inquires about the Satan Circle garner the Flash nothing but silence.
Outside of "Hell On Earth", the Flash is attacked by the motorcycle gang, Hell's Imps. Circling the Flash, the exhaust from the Hell's Imp's motorcycles momentarily incapacitate the Flash, allowing the gang to escape under cover of their own exhaust. At Pluto's Palace, the Flash meets a girl willing to lead him to the Satan Circle. The girl, Ora, leads the Flash to an old house, on the edge of a cemetery. Inside the house, the Flash comes face to face with the Satan Circle, just as they are about to sacrifice West.
The Flash attacks the Satan Circle, only to find himself suddenly suffering from the effects of a powerful hallucinogen. The hallucinogen was administered to the Flash through the Hell's Imp's exhaust. Tapping his fingers at super-speed against the floor, the Flash causes the floor to collapse, gaining some distance between himself, West and the Satan Circle. The Flash, carrying West in his arms, flees the house, only to be surrounded by the Satan Circle.
Vibrating at super-speed, the Flash is able to become immaterial enough for their gunfire to, harmlessly, pass through him. Their special ammunition, however, detonates as it enters the Flash's vibratory field. The Hell's Imp's close on the Flash. Caught between a rock and a hard place, the Flash whirls around the Satan Circle, and casts them violently into the Hell's Imps. With the case wrapped up, the Flash and West return to Central City.
