The battle between the Defenders and Hotspur continues! Can the Defenders stop Hotspur’s demonic illusions before it’s too late?
The Defenders and Andromeda are still fighting a demonic being named Hotspur in Central Park. Gargoyle, who was just wandering through Dr. Strange's house and not missing at all, pockets a mysterious jewel and then takes off and joins the fight. Hotspur creates illusions to trick them, one by one. They break out of the illusions, but then he uses a machine to grab them all.
Meanwhile the Interloper, in Russia, senses the presence of the Dragon of the Moon, and starts to walk towards America. Also, "Nancy" dopes Candy with some drugged tea.
The Hades-Machine was built by Hotspur to neutralize all of Defenders' powers. Then he tells his own story - originally a nihilistic aristocrat, he was summoned from hell after he died by some stupid kid. Suddenly Sgt. Fury shows up and releases everyone, but Beast thinks something is strange about Fury. When they are all about to shoot Hotspur's demonic army with Fury's guns, the Defenders finally realize it was another illusion created by Hotspur. Even the Hades-Machine was an illusion. Then Gargoyle and Cloud combine their powers to disorient him and Andromeda and Valkyrie grab him until his evil soul vanishes.
At the end Nancy appears and reveals herself as Seraph, an old friend of Cloud's. She says she knows who Cloud really is.
