Daimon Hellstrom has won the game of life by cutting ties from his satanic bloodline, but can he win over the heart of Patsy Walker?
Damian Hellstrom, having triumphed by rejecting his father and his satanic heritage, and having declared his love for Patsy Walker, then unfortunately did not have that love returned by Patsy, and flew off in a huff last issue. He now returns to District University, where he teaches parapsychology, hoping to find a new life for himself.
However, since he has been away on various adventures for a year, he is surprised when various students all seem to react to him as if he has never been gone. Even Saripha (here spelled "Seripha") Thames, a white witch with whom he had a dalliance previously, comes up and kisses him, then runs off, saying she'll see him later.
He walks in to his class, only to find...himself, teaching the class!
Unable to understand what is going on, he goes to his office, where he is confronted by the same man, who looks just like himself. He lets Daimon mind-meld with him, and Daimon sees that he has his same soul. Daimon is now in an existential horror. He leaves, unsure of who he is.
Back home, Patsy tries her hand at becoming a professional writer, but it is not going well. Her psychic feelings are telling her Daimon is in danger.
Daimon walks to Seripha's house. She reads his mind and says that he is not her Daimon. The other Daimon, her lover, shows up. She is pregnant with his child.
The two Daimons battle over the right to his identity.
Meanwhile, the Elf and Luann Bloom continue driving through dimensions, until they arrive at the Tribunal. The Tribunal, to Luann's confusion, asks her to report to them, as if she is their agent.
After almost losing, the original Daimon forces the duplicate to reveal itself as a demon in disguise. The demon is unique in that he wants to be good. When he managed to escape Hell, he took on Daimon's life in an attempt to life the life of good that the darksoul-ridden Daimon never did. Even once Seripha found out who he was, she still loved him.
Seripha and the demon vow to leave and take on new lives. Daimon, having won back his identity, now feels worse than even, knowing that even a demon lived his life better than him.
