ive never read any of the comics but id just like to know if jackie transforms into the darkness or he looks like this the whole time
 

He transforms into that.  Normally in daylight he looks like a human being, but in the dark he can change into what he wills the darkness to be.  If you read the comics it will explain it all. :)

The darkness is always in him and he can force it out, i would call it transformation and i would call it permament state... just, change of optic view lol
