There's no doubt that The Dark Knight Rises is one of the most highly anticipated films of the Summer; and unlike many other Summer movies, even though we've seen a lot of the footage in the film, it doesn't feel like we've seen it all. Sure we know the basic premise; Bane is terrorizing the city and Catwoman shows up to help Batman save the day; but there's a lot we don't know. We do, however, have some theories. In fact, the theory that has been circling the web since it was announced that actor Tom Hardy would be playing Bane in the film is the question of whether or not director Christopher Nolan will base his movie on the BATMAN: KNIGHTFALL story arc.

The latest The Dark Knight Rises trailer may contain our biggest clue yet. At the very end of the trailer, actor Michael Cain, who plays Alfred, turns to Christan Bale and says "Don't worry, Master Wayne, it takes a little time to get back into the swing of things." Sure, that could just be a reference to the fact that Batman has been missing for the last eight years and he's only just resurfaced; but is there a chance it could be in reference to Batman's injury and recovery in BATMAN: KNIGHTFALL? I guess we'll have to find out at the movies.

We also got a look at some of the latest The Dark Knight Rises movie posters and they are, well, interesting. I'll let you guys be the judge. Check out the full gallery below.

Batplane looks legit

The trailer is good, but not stunning. I dont feel the heartbeat and connection i had with TDK trailers.

The posters are good, but this kind of art seems a little dated. It's like a revamped version of 50's posters.

Photoshopped bane, Bat-plane ... SIGH. I know this movie will be good but why do they need to litter it with things from the marketing dept...

I actually think these posters/trailer are the weakest I've seen for this movie.

Awesome footage and I love the Catwoman poster the most. To my knowledge, this movie is a combination of combination of Knightfall, Cataclysm and a few other stories from what I know. Gosh I so want July to be here already.

Movie trailers looked weak, and the posters aren't convincing me.

The cast list doesn't help either: Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy and Christian Bale?

The posters are pretty cool. They are so detailed that they almost look like ads for figures. Especially, the ones with Bane. The way you can see all those veins.
Catwoman, no real momment there. Sadly, she feels like she's going to be part of the movie I'm just going to have to tolerate.

Posters look cool. Make me kinda want to see this.

Why has this been one of the worst marketing for a summer blockbuster?

Honestly, you don't have to do much, because the movie will sell itself, but still, this is just embarrassing to the Batman Brand.......okay, maybe not as embarrassing as the marketing collateral for Batman & Robin, but this is def second.

Looks f'n badass. If all these events circle around Knightfall I really hope Lady Shiva makes some sort of appearance. We all know that Bane broke the Bat, but its Shiva who repaired him.

You can tell in those posters they are not the actors in the movie. That looks nothing like Bale the guy in that Batsuit his face is different all together. and That is not Tom Hardy as bane there he's big yes but no where near as lean as that. Still this movie will thrash Avengers and this is only ONE hero not 5

This is the first trailer where I actually haven't felt bleh about. It looks quite good. The posters are terrible though. I think the biggest clue is the fact bruce has a cane. That might be old news, but I haven't noticed until now.

Gotta say, the posters are awful. Every one of them looks like a crappy photoshop or a toy. Still super excited for this movie though!

@Babs I know this may seem a odd theory but maybe Tim Drake will be in this. Nolan says he hates Robin but maybe he only meant Dick Grayson... Would explain a lot at least to me. A smart guy like Tim could discover who Batman was get his help and when the story is over Bruce retires and Tim takes the Mantle.

That is a theory I had anyway. Would love to here your thoughts on said theory.

These poster are not good. They are not selling batman for what the audience likes about him he is less action and more gritty realism. Also that plane is less aerodynamic than a brick. Also i don't like that Catwoman costume - i don't know why I just don't like it.

Unless these posters came from the most well-respected news source, I don't believe these posters are real.

They have essentially no coherency to what we've already seen, they're grainy, and they look very amateurish. To me, it looks like most of these are from modified publicity photos: you know, like Entertainment Weekly (or whoever) wants to publish a photo of Anne Hathaway as catwomen, they might use a publicity still. Proof you say? The same image as Anne Hathaway has been floating around online for at least a month.

More than anything though, the lighting is nothing like you see in the other promos. It's not dramatic nor does it create a mood. The edges are rough and have no blending, giving the posters a feel of bad computer graphics. A lot of the Bane images feel like action figures: they have no texture and the veins are extended in a way that feels unnatural at full scale, but would work swimmingly at action figure size.

Also, we have a release date. There's no way in hell these posters would not feature that, especially so close to the release. So yeah, I'd guess publicity shots or the like and photoshop.

I hope that the next set of Batman movies focus more on Batman than on Bruce Wayne

This is going to be the best comic book movie of the year!

Why do they insist on making TERRIBLE posters? I haven't liked a single poster for this movie so far and this latest batch does nothing more than solidify that fact. They're all so phony looking and are trying uber hard.

The trailer was badass, as for the posters, not so much. They look like they're advertisements for toys.
