The Crypt-Keeper
The Crypt-Keeper is a comic book character that first appeared in Crime Patrol #15
The crypt keeper is a mischievous story teller. The Crypt keeper always tells stories of horror and misfortune.
Origin
In the television series of 'Tales from the Crypt' the Cryptkeeper's origin is mildly introduced. In season 2 episode 'Lower Berth' the evil storyteller claimed that he was born from a two-faced circus freak and a dead Egyptian mummy. Afterwords it is never discussed again.
Powers and Abilities
While the Cryptkeeper may not have any powers he has been shown to withstand any amount of pain, once when he had his head chopped off he just made a pun and laughed about it. He also has great skills with wielding most deadly objects.
Personality
While it has been constantly shown that the Crypt Keeper can be cruel and inhuman the television series also allowed the viewers to see other aspects of the storyteller.
When he's not killing/torturing he is actually a nice person to have conversations with, just ask people like Whoopie Goldburg or Arnold Schwarzenegger, they had a conversation or two with the creature without being harmed.
Trivia
- The voice of the Crypt Keeper was always Johnny Kassir
- It took at least 6 puppeteers to make the Crypt Keeper move properly, and 4 out of the 6 was only for his facial expressions.
- There were actually 3 Tales from the Crypt movies, but the third movie wasn't very successful. That's why it isn't well-known.
- The reason why the remodeled version of the Cryptkeeper doesn't have a nose is because his creators couldn't find one that looked quite tight.
