Writer Len Kaminski and artist Shawn Martinborough put a modern slant on a classic DC character with the short - lived "The Creeper" series. Cancelled after issue# 11, the series was an attempt to rescue the off-kilter hero from his status in comic book limbo and place him firmly in the realm of the DC Universe. As such, its first issue participated in DC's "Faces of the DC Universe" cover theme, showcasing a close up headshot of the star of each respective issue. Offering a psychological examination into the depths of the mind of Jack Ryder, the Creeper's alter ego, The Creeper still failed to attract enough readers, even with the added atttraction of guest stars Batman and the Joker.
