Early Career
When Edward Blake became the Comedian he was considered the most brutal hero, having no care for humanity. He was however very successful in crime-fighting, getting rid of a lot of the underworld.
He joined the Minute-Men and soon became the most notorious member, he even attempted to rape the first Silk Spectre but was soon stopped by Hooded Justice who broke his nose. Later on he was voted out of the group but not sued for sexual assault. Some time after, Blake and the Silk Spectre were involved in some degree of relationship and again had a sexual encounter, though this time consensual. He is the father of the second Silk Spectre, when trying to speak to her about it he was interrupted by Sally Jupiter who was enraged and forced Laurie to leave with her in their vehicle as Blake looked on defeated.
Service
The Comedian served during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He became a covert government operative in the 1960's and it was during that time Blake was invited to join the superhero team known as the Crimebusters, whom he turned down on grounds that their methods were obsolete. The comedian went to fight in the Vietnam Conflict alongside Dr. Manhattan and was instrumental in winning the war for the USA. While serving there, he impregnated a young vietnam woman and when confronted by her, refused to take responsibility. A physical confrontation then ensued leaving Blake with a disfiguring facial scar and the woman shot dead.
After the passing of the mask-banning Keene Act in the 1970's, the Comedian continued his government employment along with Dr. Manhattan. The two of them and Ozymandias being the only publicly recognized and accepted superheroes.
Death
In 1985, while on mission traveling by plane he saw a mysterious island where he found multiple missing scientists and artists who were working for Ozymandias. Edward found out that they were planning on making a new species so Ozymandias could fake an alien invasion so all the nations governments would unite and there would be world peace(but the fake alien would destroyed half on Manhattan in the process). The comedian only told one person about the horrible event, this was the former villain Moloch, to whom he revealed it all during a drunken binge. The Comedian then returned to his hotel room and was watching T.V. in his bathrobe when Ozymandias broke the lock on the door and attacked him. Blake was severely beaten and then thrown out of the window of his apartment to his death. He was 61 years old. Here starts the events described in Watchmen.
