    Origin

The modern day incarnation of the Boys is led by a man called Butcher. The Boys are a team who are tasked with not only keeping tabs on the superhumans of the world, but also killing them if required. It's a multicultural task force which is backed by the CIA. They often use methods such as blackmail to keep control over minor superhero delinquents, as well as beatings, mutilations, and even killing. The team is made up of Butcher, an Englishman whose wife was raped and thereby indirectly killed by a Supe, Mother's Milk, an American whose mother was accidentally exposed to the chemical compound that makes Supes, the Female, a Japanese teenager who received a large dose of the Supe-making compound as a baby and was subsequently brought up as a research subject, which has led her to be emotionally disturbed and addicted to violence, the Frenchman, who's French, crazy, and the only one able to touch the Female without incurring serious bodily harm, and, finally, Wee Hughie, a Scotsmen whose girlfriend was killed when A-Train threw a villain through her, leaving him holding her arms Just her severed arms.

The team leader Butcher an ex English soldier will do everything in his power to hold the group together long enough for him to seek revenge regardless of the emotional cost. A price he acknowledges worth paying. The original incarnation of the Boys government sponsored anti super hero team was led by Mallory an American officer with first hand knowledge of the reckless endangerment and cost cutting tactics of Vought American the company who manufactures compound V (the real source of super powers created by Nazi scientists ). He witnessed the first and last use of super heroes in world war 2 it cost him the lives of every one in his own battalion through incompetence. Motivated to do something about this he eventually created the team the Boys to police them with help from the original scientist who created compound V to empower the Boys.

Ultimately, the story of the Boys comes to a tragic end with Butcher killing his own team, Hughie killing Butcher.

    Creation

The Boys is a Dynamite Entertainment team that star in the series The Boys. Created by writer Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson the team first appears in The Boys #1 first released in 2006. The teams distinctive visual look explained by artist Darick Robertson "I felt it was important at first to give the Boy's some sort of logo or symbol. I imagined them having their place place in the super hero world and being more public figures. I designed a symbol for their coats and little collars for what I thought would be super suits beneath ala the challengers of the Unknown or the Fantastic Four. The key to the Boys is how otherwise normal they look aside from their signature boots and trench coats. Less is more"
