The Good

Ennis is just a master with words and the Homelander’s opening dialog/monologue in the bathroom was, at once, greatly amusing and chillingly unnerving. All throughout, he infuses all this wildly outlandish superhero espionage with a sense of authenticity almost more convincing than even some true-to-life crime dramas. Compliments should be paid to this arc’s artist, Russ Braun, as he’s seamlessly kept this book in Robertson’s distinct style.

The Bad

This isn’t a title that’s ever been adverse to pushing the envelope. However, this latest story arc, which seems to be angling to reveal that the "supes" of this world were somehow involved in the attacks on the World Trade Center, might be pushing things too far - - even for my taste.

The Verdict – 3.5/5

The hook of The Boys is that it never pulls any punches and, unlike some series that seem to gradually ease back on the provocation as they get along, it’s maintained a consistent (perhaps even escalating) level of shock for almost 50 straight issues. While this current arc’s spin on alternate (recent) history might be too touchy for my tastes, you’ve got to admire the book for living up to its ballsy promises so consistently.

If you're into sex jokes, this is your book. If you're into sex jokes that basically say, "We hate super heroes and American politics" then this is a must buy. I love Garth Ennis, he's the confused friend who basically talks without a filter. It's his inability to check himself that leads to brilliance like Preacher, Hellblazer run, Punisher, and the Pro...and then when he goes too far with a death of a super hero...he gets kicked out of DC/Wildstorm. 
 
Like it or not, Mark Millar can only dream of carrying his knickers...Ennis is the man!

The President (a tough capable person) was in the White House situation room making the call to have all the planes shot down when Vice President Vic (a retard backed by Vought-American) brained him with a fire extinguisher while everybody's backs were turned, and then ordered that the last plane be allowed to keep going.  The Seven showed up to try to stop that plane, but they were completely incapable of doing so.  The could only manage to cause it to go off course and destroy the Brooklyn Bridge instead.  In "The Boys" continuity, the Twin Towers are still standing, and the destroyed Brooklyn Bridge is treated as a symbol of our ongoing  War on Terror (TM).
