The Blackest Night

The Blackest Night is a comic book story arc that first appeared in Green Lantern Corps #33



The Blackest Night is the next big story event in the Green Lantern universe. This story-line will follow the events of Sinestro Corps War.

Blackest Night: The Beginnings

The Sinestro Corps War against the Green Lanterns and the heroes of Earth was brought to a close on and around Earth.  The Corpse of the Anti-Monitor was hurled through space and landed on the planet Ryvt of Sector 666, the sector destroyed by the Manhunters prior to the creation of the Green Lantern Corps.                                                                                                          
 
 
 
 
 
 
Now, with The Black Hand, setting events in line, all of the dead are now being bought to life. They rise as Black Lanterns, and have had damaging on the heroes. At the beginning when it started, Hawkman, and Hawkgirl were killed by the Sue Dibony and Elongated Man. When they aren't killing heroes, they are striking at their hearts. In Smallville, Earth-2 Superman has rosen, and begins chaos in the home the Man of Steel, in Gotham, the parents of Dick Grayson, who is now Batman, have rosen,  Barry Allen who has been dead for years, has been shown by Hal Jordan how many superheroes have died since he has, and is overwhelmed by it. Hawkgirl and Hawkman have now been brought back to life as Black Lanterns.  
Barry Allen thought taking off the rings of the Black Lanterns would take away their powers. He attempts it, but it does not work. They continue on despite not having their black lantern rings on. The corpses of the dead villians stored by the JLA have been resurected and set off a huge battle between them and the JLA heroes. The new Firestorm Jason, suffers a heartbreaking moment. His girlfriend dies, and can do nothing but watch her die, and also see her return as a black lantern. Sinestro returns to the Starsaphire Sinestro corps mini-war to help him fight the Black Lanterns. Hal Jordan also returns himself with the Indigo Lanterns. Hal Jordan finds a way to destroy the Black Lanterns.by using two of the Spectrum rings to destroy them. Mongul and Sinestro face off to take lead of Sinestro Corps. Sinestro beats Mongul eventually defeats Mongul and takes lead of his corps.
