I think I can see a sort of unfortunate pattern developing here.  On one side this series is good in that it highlights a strong female character and one that is independent (and even relies mostly on another female character for help.)  The problem is though that the plot does not always do much to help to showcase that.  This issue started off well with some strong moments from the main heroine, but started to veer quickly into cliché, even as they were playing international espionage hopscotc...
