We Have a Hulk... 0

Standing in the cinema at 11:30pm, I was briefly unsure if i was in the right cinema. The local comic shop had booked out the cinema, and I couldn't see much of the fanboy hype I'd been expecting. Then Iron Man walked into the room. Then Captain America. I took a closer look at the people around me, and picking up on a dozen Spider-Man t-shirts and just as many Batman shirts, I realised I was in the right place. These were the people I would be watching this movie with, and by the end of the nig...

'We have s**t to Avenge' - The Avengers review (Spoiler Free) 0

As a few of you know, The Avengers was released a bit before America, so as I'm English I was able to see the film yesterday (27/04/12). I've written a few reviews before but I only do so when I've got a lot to say....and boy I have a lot to say.The GoodThe Avengers is like a Thor sequel, a Captain America sequel, a third Iron Man film, a Black Widow film, another Hulk film and a SHIELD film all in one. Every character has a big role having a lot to say whilst doing a lot of ass kicking. Every c...

Marvel did it again! 0

If you were worried how the combination of so many heroes on screen would workt out, be assured, that all your worries will be left behind from the first minutes on.As an Austrian citizen i had the pleasure to see the latest comic adaptation a little earlier than the Americans among you. And i can only say: "Amazing!!". From the beginning to the end they were able to capture the epicness that is created by the title. This title will offer everything that you could long for in an action movie as w...

Avengers, assamble! en esp. 0

"The Avengers" Hit the Mark 0

On a whim (and because I have the day off), myself and Comic Vine User Tomokata ( http://www.comicvine.com/myvine/tomokata/ ), decided to go see "The Avengers. She will be writing a review as well and this will be mine. So, where to start? In a word: EPIC!This is the movie that I had hoped "The Avengers" would be. It pretty much has it all! Action, Humor, catch phrases, wit and everything you expect a comic to be and they have made it into the Live Action Movie without being cheesy and certainly ...

Film Review -- The Avengers / Joss Whedon, Robert Downey, Jr., Ch 0

Originally posted on my blog, The Comics Cove, not too long ago...So, I'm guessing most of you who read this blog have probably seen The Avengers at least once already, and are well aware of the box office juggernaut (pun intended) this film is becoming. The advance reviews for it have been unprecedented in their uniform level of praise for a superhero movie, and the ticket sales back up the claim that this movie has not only been hyped, but anticipated at a ravenously frenzied level. It has act...

Best Marvel Movie! 0

Believe the hype! This movie was amazing all the way through. It's definitely one of the top superhero movies ever made. In fact, I'd only put the Dark Knight above it.Pros: This is a super-clean movie that the whole family can enjoy. It's also a movie that even the most strict comic book fan can watch without flinching. Every character feels natural, and stays true to their comic book portrayals. Additionally, their interactions with each other were spot-on. The plot was good; exciting without ...

It's Avenger Time! 0

What began as a surprise in a post credits scene at the end of the first Iron Man movie in 2008, rolled into one of the most ambitious projects in Hollywood history – The Avengers Movie. Now, it’s time for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to finally assemble to stop Loki and an army of alien invaders! The Avengers Movie ReviewLet me preface my review of Marvel’s The Avengers by stating three undeniable facts about myself. First, I am a lifelong Avengers fan. Second, I also enjoy anything that is or relat...

Fun 0

What can I say? You've probably already seen this movie, and if you haven't...See this movie. With the last few Marvel films to reach the big screen ranging from lukewarm to only marginally good, they really needed The Avengers to be a hit. And by choosing Joss Whedon (himself a dyed-in-the-wool Marvelite) they picked the right man for the job. Without going into any details to prevent any spoilers whatsoever, I'll just say that it mixes action, adventure, humor and a little intrigue to great effe...

You and I Remember Budapest Very Differently 0

I think it's fair to say that everyone was waiting for the Avengers. It was a long time coming and I think it was worth it. I don't think it lived up to my expectations which I don't necessarily think is a bad thing but I felt a little disconnected after leaving the theater. It's great when Joss Whedon can find work. While I don't worship at his alter like some do I'm a Buffy fan from way back when and it's nice to see him get his due. Not only did he direct this film but he also laid out the sto...

Fun it is, great it is not 0

Like many I had high expectations for The Avengers but ultimately those expectations weren't met. There is nothing particularly wrong with The Avengers other than it has a "been there, done that" feel to it. One has to give props to Joss Whedon for focusing on character development (something that is lost in films like Michael Bay's Transformers series). Since 2008 with the release of Iron Man, Marvel has been building up to The Avengers with each passing film but when it finally comes together,...

Its Time To Bring The Team Together!!!!! 0

I was excited to see this movie because Joss Whedon was directing it and couldn't wait to see the Avengers together to stop Loki. The story was told very well and showed some amazing action scenes too. The cast was well done and I enjoyed some of the scenes with Tony and Steve. In the story Loki comes to earth and takes some people with him including Hawkeye. Nick Fury decides to assemble the team and brings in Steve Rogers, Black Widow, Iron Man and Hulk to stop this threat. Thor comes along an...

Good But a little Over Hyped 0

First of all let me explain the good in this movie. I'm glad that they actually gave Nick Fury a role in the movie. It was nice that he just didn't show up and leave. It was very realistic that hawkeye ran out of arrows and had to reuse some off of dead aliens. i enjoyed the relationship between Sr. banner and Tony which Is my favorite scene between two characters. It was a great fan survive that Hulk tried to lift Thor's hammer. This movie had the best final battle scene; Thor and Cap movies wa...

Hulk Smash? 0

THERE ARE A FEW SPOILERS IN THIS BUT THE FILM HAS BEEN OUT A LITTLE WHILE.This is so far the best comic book film I have seen ever. I knew when Joss Whedon was directing he'd be the one too bring all the elements together in an epic film.I really liked even though most of the characters have had their solo films they have introduced them like they never had been but didn't drag it out by telling everything (actually their isn't much from previous films repeated) that happened in the previous fil...

The Definitive Comic Book Movie 0

MARVEL'S THE AVENGERS was truly a comic book movie fans dream come to life. Filled with iconic moments, well-placed humor, specific character shining moments, and amazing action scenes. What I love the most about this film is that it is unapologetic for embracing its comic book source material while at the same time having general audience appeal without presenting itself as a watered-down version from the original mythos. Definitely a well-fitting for Phase 1 of the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Univ...

Avengers Movie is a straight up Geekasm 0

Just like everyone else, I loved this movie. I had a blast. A true Geekasm. I would have liked Captain America to have a holy crap moment. Yet was serviced by the automatic take charge before the big fight. The bickering and fighting was so much a marvel moment, i enjoyed it. I loved the OMG look Black Widow was given when faced with the Hulk. No false bravado, or misguided tough girl act. She knew she was out matched and was piss scared. Thor was handled well also, although I was surprised at h...

Great popcorn fun! 0

The GoodIt's a great, fun, and mostly family-friendly content. There is a whole bunch of geek-gasms in this movie, from Hulk fighting Thor, to Thor fighting Iron Man, to Iron Man fighting Captain America, to Captain America's Shield against the Mjolnir hammer, and Black Widow vs. Hawkeye. This is really a great film that sticks to the Avenger's roots. (minus Wasp and Hank Pym) This is a great, action-packed movie. The actors did a really great job in their roles and I really think they deserve a...

Avengers, Assemble! Then dissasemble again for some reason... 0

Some of you should know I decided to write one review a week. Well, I figured I'd start them off with a bang! I'm reviewing my favorite movie of all time, The Avengers. Now, there will be spoilers. But if you haven't seen it yet, what is wrong with you? Let's jump right in.The GoodRandom order here. It's just when I think of it.Loki - Those of you who saw Thor know how fantastic Tom Hiddleston was as Loki. He managed to make his performance here 10X better. He was the absolute perfect villain fo...

unparalleled 0

This movie is unparalleled! It inspired my love for comics and everyday I can barely contain myself for the sequel. The Avengers unites the best superheroes in comics. Unlike the Justice League, the Avengers seem so realistic that they could exist in real life (except for Thor, of course, because he is a god)....

THIS is How They Need to Do It! 0

Superhero team movies are often muddled and mixed up. I think it’s because they have not one but multiple stars and trying to satisfy the demands of fans to give everybody a bit of screen time is hard and instead, often one character rises above them all and is the focal point of the whole movie. What was brilliant about The Avengers was that it uses the previous Marvel films from Iron Man 1, Iron Man 2, the Incredible Hulk, Thor, and Captain America: The First Avenger as building blocks. W...

Great summer blockbuster for an overrated film 0

I only saw The Avengers in the theater two times. The first time I loved it and would have given it 5 stars, the second time I saw it I began to see the flaws in the film and gave it 4.5 stars. I haven't seen the film since, but on a whim I decided to check it out of my local Redbox and see it again and it's sad to say The Avengers seems to get slightly worse every time I see it and that is what separates it from truly great films that hold up in after multiple viewings. I think I need to back ...
