Surrogates Must Die
If you think an Avengers roster without Captain America or Iron Man to lead the team would be boring, disordered and chaotic, think again, because Dane Whitman is proving to be an extraordinary second Leader by the hands of Bob Harras. The writer also created a benefical environment for the different relationships of friendship and love among the Avengers´members. Thor´s (Eric Masterson/Thunderstrike) friendship with Hercules is the best thing so far (related to human interaction), as they both lean on each other for mutual help and lots of jokes. There is a great mystery behind Sersi, she´s hiding something from her team mates, and the fact that Black Knight is torn inside ´cause of his conflictuous feelings towards Crystal only spice things up when Sersi advances on him like a cougar. This plot is very good as Harras tells a little more about the mysterious Proctor and his plans involving the Avengers, mixing alternate realities with good adventure narrative. This is one of the best Avengers issue of this arc story and Steve Epting returning to the titlle only add more great things, as he penciled amazing pages filled with good humor, action and excellent dialogues. Epting is very good in drawing art and combat scenes as well as just regular moments, like Hercules afraid of calling to a girl; his abilities as an artist just grows issue to issue and it´s incredible to observe this evolution in his work. The best thing is seeing this team of Avengers working together, growing as a colective and it´s a very unique roster. Highly recommended!!
