Things are looking up for Morbius. Not only will he have his own Marvel NOW! title, but now he'll apparently have a role in the Amazing Spider-Man sequel! Asim Ahmad is allegedly going to play Dr. Michael Morbius and said the following on Twitter about the proposed part.

In my opinion, Morbius would fit very well into Norman Osborn's universe of shady scientific experiments, even if it's just a small part. What do you think?

Amazing Spider-Man 2 is expected to hit theaters May 2, 2014.

Looks like my secret idea might come true...They are calling the sequel The Spectacular Spider-Man. The third should be called The Sensational Spider-Man!

Huh, never would have thought that they would use Morbius in a Spider-Man movie but I can't help think that his new title in the comics has some role in promoting him for the movie...Oh God, I'm going into conspiracy theorist mode. Anyway, I like it!

i don't know what tot think about that. I don't think he is popular enough of a Spidey villain to be in the movie and for fans to be excited for him to be in the movie

im alright with this. i love nods to other characters in super-hero movies. like all the ant references in the Avengers. i dont see him being that big of a character so why not have a small cameo like dr. connors in the other Spider trilogy

My initial gut reaction was "noooo", but then, I also thought that for the Lizard and was pretty happy with the end result. As long as the next film doesn't overreach with too many villains and keeps the characters interesting and understandable, I think this could work.

There's no word at all on Deathstroke appearing in any films. Best I can offer is the fact he's in the TV show Arrow and will soon appear in the video game Injustice: Gods Among Us.

Agreed. The more "easter eggs," the better. It really makes the movieverse stand out instead of feeling like our world with only a few key changes.

They are great little winks for the bigger fans in the audience. Plus, it gives them a character that is already built into the world of the movie should they want to revisit him in a greater way later. It makes it look like the use of that character was planned earlier than it maybe necessarily was, and if they don't use him for anything else later then it's a nice little piece of fan service.

I don't really care much for Morbius, but its cool he will be in the movie for a bit. I do like that they are using Spectacular Spider-man instead of Amazing Spider-man 2.

That seems cool. Have him just be a scientist and open the door for the character to turn into Moribus in the 4th or 5th movie. The same way that Connors was introduced in the original trilogy.

How is it I like the characters that are being talked about for this movie, and don't know the actors, yet every announcement made about it just fills me with disgust and disappointment?

Seems plausible. Michael Morbius maybe either working at Oscorp or possibly as a professor at the college Peter and Gwen start at? Do we know if Peter/Gwen are still in highschool during ASM2?

For a moment I thought we were going to see the Living Vampire, and then I would ask what the purpose of that would be. If it was just Dr. Michael Morbius it would make more sense...but then again for such a small time why even bother to put him there at all? Good to see the rumor isn't true.

Wow you know when sony ex said "We want spiderman to be our twilight" i thought he was joking,

then i saw the film was going to be best more the gwen and peters relationship and thought "hmm"

then i saw people tweeting "Team Gwen" and "Team MJ" and i thought oh no its happening.

Then i saw the film, which was awful.

Now this leaves me extremely worried.

Osborn, Electro, and Morbius all in the same movie? I approve. I actually love the idea of multiple villains [and the fact they're using one who gets ignored like Morbius sometimes does: more of a nod to actual comic fans than the masses when they do that]. After all: when are villains ever so polite as to let just one reek mayhem while the others wait their turns? The more Parker has to try and balance and deal with all at once, the better.

Also: I know he'd have nothing to do with the Spiderman part of the Marvel-verse, but the shady guy who appeared and disappeared with the lightning in the 1st movie reminded me of Mephisto [as he's been seen in recent movies] more than the Green Goblin/Osborn. Just saying. xD

Yeah, highly doubt this rumor is true as that actor looks absolutely nothing like Michael Morbius. But Morbius would be a very interesting villain (or supporting character) to put into the film franchise.

...Although it certainly wouldn't do anything to quash the frivolous comparisons to Twilight.

Electro is confirmed. Amazing had a really interesting (perhaps unintentional) clue to Mysterio in the very last shot right before the credits start. Venom should be showing up since he's said to have his own movie coming. And Norman obviously has to show up eventually. Now a possibility of Morbius... this might end up being a little too much.

I think its fairly obvious Morbius would start out as a scientist in the background. He only gets 2 pages according to the actor's tweet. Its not going to be a lot of screentime.

@k4tzm4n: The only problem with the Easter eggs is that Sony is not allowed to hint to any characters that aren't within the Spider-man franchise. So there's a really specific list to who they can mention. If they mentioned Reed Richards or something, they are going to get sued by Fox lol. There is only so many people the film can allude to, who aren't villains or not already appearing in the film.

Please let this be true, Morbius is so underrated as a Spidery character. Remember him in the cartoon? "I hunger for plasma."
