Electro's 616 costume isn't exactly the easiest piece of attire to translate to the big screen. So will we see Jamie Foxx squish into the bright and tight goofy costume or do they have something else in mind? BlackFilm had a chance to ask Jamie Foxx about the costume and it sounds like it might be more inspired by the Ultimate universe costume.

It won’t be green and yellow. It will be a different color. They (the producers) want something for the future. They want to have it more grounded and not as comic bookie, so it won’t be green and yellow. They want to try new things, like a liquid rubber and things like that, and there are all these bolts and stuff in my arms when they are hanging me upside down and trying to figure out what happen. How did he become this way? So, it will be some new stuff.
In the script, this villain is the first time it’s be written really, really well. Andrew Garfield and Marc Webb both commented on how great the script is, so it should be an exciting time.

-Jamie Foxx

"A liquid rubber?" This makes sense for Maxwell Dillon, but could this also be the very early stages of the symbiote? After all, it wasn't an alien in the Ultimate universe... it was created. But back to Electro. What are your thoughts on them apparently keeping a distance from the classic (and campy) 616 costume?

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will swing into theaters May 2, 2014.

Yeah stay away from the classic costume some things look better in cartoons and comics than would in real life. It will interesting to see what the final result looks like.

I still think Jamie Foxx is too good an actor to play some electric thug.

Glad to hear they're keeping away from the classic costume. Although I'd hoped for a more electrical based look for Electro. But I'm sure Webb has some great plans in that regard.

I think its a stretch to think that it would have anything to do with the symbiote.

I'm more worried about the fact Emma Stone might die in this movie but not at the hands of the Green Goblin.

Liquid Rubber sounds like an idea why he would have a costume in the first place. The guy has electrical problems and cannot control himself (like in that Spider-man cartoon) and so they make a liquid rubber costume to insulate him. And instead it becomes his super villain costume.

I hope he has a scarred up face like the ultimate Electro.

really surprised that the same people who didn't want Donald Glover to play spidey aren't going on about Foxx as Electro

Can't say I even care anymore. Sure I'll see it, because it's Spiderman, but nothing about this film franchise is interesting to me.

I'm on the fence period of even caring about the sequel. I wouldn't mind Jamie Foxx as a villain (he's a pretty good actor in everything. Example being the film Stealth), and the Ultimate Electro is vastly different enough so as not to mess up the regular 616 Electro.

But after a Saturday Night Live thing involving Django Unleashed, the less I hear what he has to say the better.

Yeah I was just realizing that...

I don't know if it's a "stereotype" as much as it's just a weird pattern.

Irregardless, I'm looking forward to Foxx/Electro in the sequel

Yeah I doubt they'd touch the Symbiote stuff since they screwed it up so bad in the last Raimi movie.

I don't think they'd kill off Emma Stone so quickly, She is a big star now. Plus they did establish Oscorp and Norman Osborn in the Amazing Spider-man and Harry was just cast. I could see the sequel setting up Mary Jane, Norman Osborn and Harry Osborn. Then in the inevitable 3rd movie they kill off Gwen with Green Goblin.

Also what happened to the idea of this being called "The Spectacular Spider-man"? or was that whole rumor and Morbius being in the movie debunked?

I hope she dies at the hands of Green Goblin, maybe she will die in the 3rd movie!

Jamie Foxx really has turned me off to this movie, based upon his "Joke" about how he got to kill all the white men in Django. I'm so sick of actors, racism and politics. I guess making a comment about this makes me a racist political hack too. Go figure. At least I'm not forced to buy a ticket to see this movie.

If it doesn't have the electric spikes around his head then I'll be disappointed. But of course the character is white and Foxx is black so I'm already disappointed they feel the need to mess with things like that.

I'd like to see a version of the Spectacular Spider-Man costume.

It KINDA looks like his classic costume, but not utterly ridiculous. Yes I admit Electro's classic costume is horrendous and I like Thor's classic Kirby costume. That says something right there.

I actually think their have been some very good looking interpretations of the classic Electro suit in recent years. Sure, even the best of those would have to be tweaked to look good in live action but it could easily be done. At the end of the day the costume is not as important as the writing and acting, so I'm still very excited to see Foxx's take on the character.

I really like the idea that his liquid rubber suit might be a prototype symbiote of some kind. That would actually be a very good way of subtly introducing it. I also have a feeling that Carnage is in the not-too-distant future for the franchise, so a symbiote doesn't necessarily mean a retread of Venom.

Any design that does not use yellow and green as the primary color scheme, I'll be happy.

Electro's newest design seen in Ends of The Earth wasn't so bad. I think with a few tweaks it would have worked out okay.

If the rumor about Morbius isn't true then I will not see this film.

Probably a good idea. Now that I see this new likeness and not the old campy costume, makes me have more faith int hem choosing Electro as a villain for the upcoming movie. The look is great!

Seems like back in the late '70s... while fighting The Falcon... Electro proved to be a racist.

I guess that won't be a problem in this movie.

Please, just no "tons of tatoos" as most black heroes get thrown on them in comics and movies.

Blade and others.
