Perhaps bringing back the clone mess would help any Spider-man fan forget about the unresolved One More Day/Brand New Day's cathartic mess? That's just what Marc Guggenheim would have you believe that by using one mess to help quell the storm of another. Does it work? Well so far so good.
Guggenheim doesn't directly delve back into the clone saga. Instead, he picks an unresolved thread from that convoluted era to weave his story. Ben Reilly is gone but his actions will have reprecussions that Peter will have to answer for. If that's not enough, someone else from the Clone saga is back. Thanks to Tom DeFalco is the genius who thought making Tony Stark a handicapped like Professor X would be a bigger story than Demon in the Bottle. The Clone saga is inevitably coming back but thankfully, Guggenheim is not going to directly try and explain all the back story to move a story forward.
This is a simple case of mistaken identity and paying for someone else's actions. The final page might be a turning point for Pete as he has to make a choice that is likely to stick with him for a long time.
Rating: Buy it. While the art isn't as crisp as Joe Kelly's team, there is a lot to like.
