    Not bad, but not...great

I'm honestly surprised that this got as high a rating as it did. I mean, I didn't think that it was bad, but it just wasn't as good as I wanted it to be. If this is supposed to be the defining event to showcase the rivalry between Dr. Octopus and Spider-Man, I kind of expect more out of it. The events just seemed a little cliché and not much thought really went into the sequence of events I felt. Some of the dialogue felt stilted and out of place and I felt like Slott could have said a lot more with fewer words. It was almost as if I was reading a comic from the '80s where the characters narrate every move they make and the villains curse their opponents out loud even though they can't hear them. And I really don't like the armor look on Spider-Man. I get that its critical to the story, but why can't they just make it like his "Iron Spider" costume from J. Michael Straczynski's run during the Civil War event. I thought that was a good alternate look for Spider-Man. I dunno. I just don't know if Slott's the best fit for Spider-Man. I would much rather have J. Michael Straczynski back on the title. Where is he now anyway?

It's great to see Spidey take control of the Avengers seeing how the Sinister Six are his rouge gallery. Basically, this issue was about who was prepared more. That doesn't sound exciting, especially when over the years, we've seen Spidey take on numerous variations of the Sinister Six and came on top countless times, along...

Comic Review -- The Amazing Spider-Man #683: The Ends of the Eart 0

Originally posted on my blog, The Comics Cove, not too long ago...Whenever I look at cover, I basically ask myself two things when determining whether I like it or not: would I wear this on a shirt? And, would I want this for a poster on my wall? The answer in both cases is a resounding yes for this cover. It's a dynamic pose of Spidey and the Avengers, along with his new costume. While I'm still a little iffy on that, I'm pretty impressed with all the new tech he's put in it to combat the Sinis...
