Oh Man, Did That Really Happen?!? 10

The now twice monthly Amazing Spider-Man arrives with a major shocker. What happens in this issue will blow you away.  The Good This issue has everything I could want in a Spider-Man comic. Lots of Spidey action, some crazy stuff with Hobgoblin, Black Cat, more Phil Urich and a tease with Mac Gargan. The action explodes from the very first page. There are indeed BIG things happening that justify the BIG TIME title. There is almost an epic feel to the story as we witness what you can definitely c...

SPOILERS! STOP READING IF YOU DON'T WANT 'EM! 9

My all time favorite villain, Roderick Kingsley is dead. And the way Dan Slott did it was TERRIBLE! Since when was Phil Urich ever an evil, crazed lunatic? He was a hero! But that's not the worst part; he has Kingsley decapitated!!! Am I really supposed to believe that Roderick Kingsley, with his improved Goblin formula was taken out so easily by a two-bit punk? Really?! This was just utterly horrible. Why bring back Kingsley and his ever bad-ass self just so Dan could horribly  and easily (Out ...

    He Did It, Ben. 3

Overview Big Time is officially in full swing! Amazing Spider-Man #649 opens with a bang; Hobgoblin's back and we are presented with an appetizing taste of what's to come.   We also get a look at what Ms. Felicia Hardy's now up to. Is she on the side of the angels this time around, or still out for herself?   Another peek into Goblin Culture and the new Daily Bugle will interest those who have been fans of Front Line, and a check-in on Mac Gargan and the aftermath of Doc Ock's attack on NYC afte...

    Trick or Treat! 0

Let me start out by saying WOW! These last two issues have been amazing. Dan Slott really knows how to handle face time between Peter Parker and Spider- Man. I can't remember the last time I was so excited to see what Pete was doing outside of the suit. Things are really looking up for Peter, so that already is a new direction for this book. Dan Slott's writing is spot on when it comes to dialogue between characters. He makes everything that goes on with everyone interesting and throws in some l...

Hobgoblin is back and he's dangerous as ever 2

Hobgoblin finally makes his return starting with Big Time.  Pros: Color me surprised at the beginning of the issue. Hobgoblin is back, but it's not who you think (Well it was). It does make things quite interesting though. I'm really impressed by the way Dan Slott formatted these two issues so far. I was worried in the last issue that so many huge changes went on that it would affect the story in this issue, but those fears have disappeared. He continues to bring back how Spider-man used to be:...

    Amazing Spider-Man 649 0

VIOLENCE AND MAYHEM ENSUE! Proving that Spider-Man isn't always family friendly, Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos unleash a darker and more twisted opening than anything I've ever seen in a Spidey comic. That being said, leave the kiddies at home, because Spidey isn't just fighting the costumed cooks this time around, he's got gangs and psychopathic killers to combat, and it's going to be a bloody, bloody fight.   Our issue opens weeks ago, where we see Roderick Kingsley, aka the HobGoblin, fightin...

The no holds barred second issue of Big Time. 0

I gotta say, ASM Big Time is off to quite the start. Issue 648 was phenomenal and now 649 continues that pace and even ups the ante a little bit. When Marvel announced that Dan Slott would be the sole writer for ASM I got pretty excited, having one single writer would allow the story to seem more like one fluent cohearent story rather than arc to arc to arc to arc. Even with the second issue Slott shows us that this is his story and isn't going to just play it safe, and I really like this. It gi...

Slott goes two for two with big time. 0

Sometimes, you read a comic and you have to re-read it to understand. In spider-man #649 however, you read it again because of how brilliant it is. #649, as well as #648, combine fantastic comic visuals with the wit of Dan Slott to bring a fantastic tale that should do any spidey fan proud. This is a sign of good things to come for spidey and provides a large appeal group. with good action, witty humor, and a solid storyline, there are few things not to like about ASM #649....

The Times They Are A-Changin'... 0

When I last went on comic-reading hiatus for the holidays, Spider-Man had just finished up a run of the familiar.  He was fighting all his old classic villains in a story that, while entertaining, had only the slightest repercussions on Spidey-continuity at large.  All of that changed with the new creative team of Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos, bringing us "BIG TIME", a story-arc that finally sees Spider-Man's life taking an up-swing (no pun intended).  In issue 648, Spider-Man was hitting his st...

Excuse me sir, Have you seen my Head?? 0

Big Time part 2. Hobgoblin is back and it is someone new wearing the costume and trying to beat our hero!!   The Good This was a crazy issue. The writing and art are prefect for this issue. Lots of crazy action, Spider-Man and Black Cat team-up, Peter finally getting the job he always wanted and the one of the craziest things that happened to Roderk Kingsley. Peter and his magazine's  The Bad The art work a bit cartooney.  Overall Great issue was not expecting what happened on the opening pages...
