Here Kitty..Kitty..Kitty...
Peter Parker is back from the dead, and by dead I mean, that Dr. Octopus pulled a classic mind switch on him, but Peter is back none the less! The best part of Peter being back is watching him deal with the mess that Dr. Octopus left. The big problem in this issue is the return of Black Cat. We last saw Black Cat attempting to flirt with Spider-Ock or Sp-Ock as I like to call him, and Sp-Ock did what any man would do when faced with a beautiful cat burglar; he punched her in the face and left her for the cops. (Classic Sp-Ock) Now there is no way that will come back to bite Peter in the ass, right? Well writer Dan Slott has different ideas and Black Cat starts to plan the downfall of our favorite web-head.
We got a lot of setup in this issue, however, that is one thing that Slott does extremely well, and that is setup treads that build over the coming issues. Sometimes 100 issues later like in the event of Peter Parkers death. We also get to see Peter do his best Sp-Ock impression and it really makes me miss the diabolical bastard. This issue does jump around a bunch and does a good job of seeing where all the characters are and plant the seeds for future stories, so I am stoked to see what is next. This new series is only on issue 3, but I feel new readers will be a little lost if they did not read the last series; Superior Spider-Man. On the flip side all comics with a long history like Spider-Man may be a challenge, for new readers to break in, but the best thing to do is just pick it up and start reading.
Here's hoping Sp-Ock is not dead forever and makes a comeback soon !
