Spider-man goes Insane?
I'm back, bigger, badder and much more better! Let me start of saying that I'm a huge Spidey fan, he's my favorite hero, Marvel's most represented hero and one of the most known heroes of all. As well there will be some spoilers in the review so you've been warned. So with this review were going back to the sliver age I believe reviewing.. The Amazing Spider-Man #24 - Spider-Man Goes Mad!
The Story
This story starts off like a normal Spider-man issue, Peter tries getting some money after he finds out Aunt May has been getting scammed, didn't seem out of the usual. Peter then later takes on these thugs and there didn't seem to be any super villains around, but then things get trippy for our Web Head. Like Doctor Octopus walking through a solid wall and the Vulture and Sandman appearing out of no where, even though didn't seem like they were moving at all. Were are then introduced to the villain of the story Dr Rinehart. Peter talks to the Rinehart, but then suddenly Jameson comes to the rescue! Confronting the man saying he's a fraud and basically he tricked Spider-man this whole time thinking he was insane, afterwards he decided to make a run for it, but Spider-man being able to do the things a spider can chases after him. Then Peter grabs him by the head and a mask comes of revealing that he was really Mysterio! Like always Spider-man brings him to the authorities and saves the day once again.
The Good
Let me start of saying that I love Steve Ditko's art for Spider-man it just brings a batch of nostalgia on the table, also with Stan The Man Lee's superberb writing this made this Issue quite decent. Another thing I must add in is the Suspense showing how a hero could lose his edge like any other person, while at this time, other heroes such as Batman, Superman and the rest were like Mary Sues and had didn't exactly have a weakness, mentally.(Seeing as Scarecrow wasn't introduced yet until 1967 and this was published 1965.) This is Mysterio done right, here's suppose to get to Spider-Man's head as he always does, breaking his sanity a little more each time they meet.
The Bad
There isn't really anything bad about the issue it wasn't great, but it wasn't bad either. The only thing I didn't like was that Aunt May looked like she was a man that's been living for thousands of years, but other than it's a decent Issue as said before.
The Verdict
Decent Issue, pretty good art in my standards and good writing. I give it a 6/10.
