The time has finally arrived! We've been hearing quite a lot about The Amazing Spider-Man 2 over the past few months and now it's time to get a solid look at plenty of clips from the film. Rhino, Harry Osborn, Electro, Gwen Stacy, even more secrets... it's all here in this first official trailer. So, what are you waiting for? Check it out below.

Just in case you're wondering about Rhino's redesign, here's some comments he made about it over at MovieWeb.

"One of the tricky things is translating characters from the comic that work in illustration into the three dimensional reality on a New York street. And, often things that work quite well as a drawing don't make sense in the physical world. And so we wanted to make Rhino into something as powerful he is in the comics and as sort of simple minded and direct as he is in the comics but with a suit that felt of this world. There's certain hints about it's creation. It's only teased in the movie, it's really not a big part of the film, but I again wanted to create something that felt majestic and quite powerful but also something that Aleksei could have put together himself."

I can understand they chose the mechanical approach for Rhino and not the half-breed. If you played Ultimate Spiderman then you know he was badass in that!

Oh. My. God.

So we had easter eggs for Vulture and Ock, and definite appearances from what appears to be Rhino, a Harry Osborn Green Goblin and of course, Electro.

2014 is gonna be a good year ladies and gentlemen.

Well it does indeed look like they're setting up for the Sinister Six, so presumably they'll turn up in 3? If you look at the Oscorp parts, there is a lot of references to the no. 6.

I'm guessing, the 6 will be Vulture, Ock, Electro, Lizard, Rhino and finally Norman Osborn as Goblin. Calling it that Harry either dies or gets taken down in some manner this Movie, leading to a revenge arc for Norman.

Looks a little strange. I like the whole "Secret History of the Parkers" angle. Should be good. Dane Dehaan is awesome.

I really wish they have Half-breed Rhino instead of mechanical's. But overall, it looks great, can't wait.

Definitely piqued my interest a bit more!

I'm in the minority that actually liked the first film, so I'm pretty keen for this one... despite the scene with Electro jumping between capacitors looking like it was taken directly from Shattered Dimensions :P

Not interested. The villains look terrible.

This looks pretty good, but I'm worried that they might be trying to work in too many villains and, in doing so, neglect developing them.

So excited! The first ASM was/is my favorite superhero movie to date, and this looks just as good, if not better. My only hesitation is that Electro battle at the end looked like it was out of a video game level (kind of like the final battle with the Lizard from the last one). Still, can't wait!

@reviloisfree: I think they are going with the mechanical approach but when spider-man defeats rhino the movie Oscorp will probably make the real Rhino in the 3rd movie when the sinister six is complete

I liked the rhino 2 from the guantlet story.

This looks alright. I'm not hyped.

The first trailer, and I already feel as if I've seen half the movie. Save plot for when we see the actual movie.

Well I liked the first film and this was decent but at times it felt like I was watching a trailer for a PS3 game.

I believe it does. I think they are working pretty quickly on trying to form the Sinister Six. Just by the trailer alone it they are introducing Electro, Rhino and I think I saw the Green Goblin. The Lizard was in the first movie and they are foreshadowing Vulture and Doc Ock for the future. That makes enough to form the Sinister Six. Spider-Man had a hard time with the Lizard and I cannot wait to see how he stepped up his game in the next movie. If/When he fight the Sinister Six I wonder if he is going to do it solo or is going to recruit some superhero help from the marvel universe.

My only big worry is that there is way too much CGI. The original trilogy used way too much CGI, and now it looks dated. This kind of already looks dated. Movie CGI is supposed to superior to video game CGI because it doesn't need to render in real time, but these effects don't look like anything a PS3 couldn't do.

The Spider Cave. I don't mind the Rhino's new look.

Andrew Garfield is miscast as Peter Parker. To be fair, so was Tobey Maguire.

Even though the first film was meh, this trailer makes the sequel look decent. Its tone feels like a Spider-Man film, the plot points seem interesting and there's a sense of joviality to it. I like that feeling given how serious superhero films have become, especially thanks to Nolan's 'visionary' directing. There's nothing wrong with plenty of drama and darkness but for it to overturn the inherent nature of what superhero films are ruins the execution of the film like some recent DC films have succeeded in ruining the core concepts of Batman and Superman respectively in TDKR and MOS.

Ock and Vulture! Also, Spidey's looking pretty formidable in this trailer.

Why do people that feel this way even watch trailers? The only movie where I felt like I had seen to much beforehand was the Avengers because they kept putting up full scenes on Youtube, but I now avoid that problem by watching nothing but trailers. I've never felt like a trailer has told me too much. I mean, how much can 2 and half minutes of a two hour film spoil for you? I do wish Goblin was left as a surprise, but other than that, I don't feel like the trailer told me anything important that we didn't already know. It just set the tone for us.

I am very critical of comic book movies, but the first movie pleased me. The trailer does a good job in creating excitement for the movie, but I have my concerns.

I'd like to be more interested but I thought the first ASM was pretty meh. This trailer isn't really doing it for me either. I'm going to try and get excited for it though.

Keeping my fingers crossed that those Ock arms are hinting towards a future SSM movie :P

I'm excited. Electro looks scary powerful.

I like the idea of tying everything back to Oscorp and his parents. It gives him a personal connection to his villain and explains why they're his villains. This isn't necessary in the comics where there's lots of time to introduce each villain as a new encounter, but in films—especially films with this many villains per installment—it makes a lot of sense to just say "Oscorp did it" and cut to the chase.
