    AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #180

This issue is written by Len Wein and drawn by Ross Andru. This comic is a classic and a very good read. In this we have the 3rd Green Goblin trying to take over the underworld, and comes to blows with Spidey and Silvermane. The Goblin bests Spidey and Silvermane, and leaves ol' silver top in a bad way. Spidey is not much luckier then Silvermane. After defeating web head and Silver top, the Goblin flys off with Spider-Man in tow intending to throw him into an incinerator Smokestack. Of course Spidey manages to save his self before being burnt to a crisp. Then the action starts. Spidey and the 3rd Green Goblin brawl! After a short battle Spidey manages to unmask the new Goblin, and to find out that this new Goblin is none other then Harry Osborns shrink Bart Hamilton! What a surprise! (at least it was back in '78') After being unmasked we get to hear Barts origin story, which is pretty cool. Then after Hamiltons story is told an enraged Harry Osborn in his Goblin costume comes calling... for Hamiltons head! The two Green Goblins fight it out, and after the battle is over and the smoke clears we have one dead Goblin and one Goblin that doesn't want to be, but just wants to live a normal life. I'm sure you can guess that Bart Hamilton is the Goblin that perishes. At the end of this issue we see everything going back to normal. Spidey feels good about making a difference, and Harry goes on with his life with his girlfriend Liz Allen(who later becomes his wife). In my opinion this is an excellent comic, and def one of my favorite comics of all time. I def recommend trying to find this issue if you can and picking it up. If you can't find this then go out and pick up Essential Spider-Man volume 8. This issue is collected in that volume. Its in black and white, but still a great read.

Who...no, Why is the Green Goblin...? 0

While entertaining, this conclusion to the drawn out story arc felt underwhelming to me. I understand why the reveal of Hamilton as the Goblin was held, but there's no real payoff to it, and his explanation just felt tired. Thrown in the deus ex machina to revert Harry back to "normal", and the contrivance is complete. A wasted end and an overused reliance of the Goblin do not fully satisfy....
