In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire... The A-Team!
Despite the fact that the Scott Brothers (Ridley and Tony) and other producers are looking to make the A-Team more serious in tone, the first set photos don't reveal anything new. In fact, the van they're using for the new movie looks quite a bit like the GMC van that the original 1980s television stars used.
The action film will star Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Sharlto Copley, Jessica Biel, Quinton Jackson and Yul Vazquez. Director Joe Carnahan (Smokin' Aces) will helm the Fox action flick from script he wrote with Brian Bloom, Skip Woods, Michael Brandt and Derek Haas.
Cast:
- Liam Neeson as John “Hannibal” Smith
- Bradley Cooper as Lt. Templeton “Faceman” Peck
- Quinton “Rampage” Jackson as Sgt. “B.A.” Baracus
- Sharlto Copley as Capt. “Howling Mad” Murdock
- Jessica Biel as Face's ex-lover
- Patrick Wilson as a CIA operative
Sorry BA, where the hell are your gold chains?!?
Pretty good remake of the original van... not bad at all... let's just hope they keep the "we can build a machine gun out of cardboard, ballbarings and some scrap engine parts" part of the series in the movie :D
Plot Concept: Carnahan and the Scott brothers say they will use the original premise of the series as the template for an action film. In the original, four Vietnam vets convicted of armed robbery escape from military prison and became do-gooder mercenaries. The Middle East will replace Vietnam as the place the four did their tour of duty, but Carnahan said the origin story is the jumping-off point.
For those that don't know, or don't remember this piece of pure 80's awesomeness... Here's a little something to get you into it...
The A-Team will hit theaters June 11, 2010.
