An Eternal with the Deviant gene, making him unique and extremely powerful, even amongst his own kind. Above all else, Thanos loves and worships Mistress Death. Few can equal his intelligence, strength, and ambition for power. Thanos has wielded the Cosmic Cube, the Infinity Gauntlet, and even the Heart of the Universe.
I mean they look so strongly alike and they both have the same powers their both rulers of their own worlds and both badass,So i'm wondering are they related in anyway and if so how?
Nah they ain't related. Although that would be pretty cool. Thanos is definately the one with the cooler head, after all he has some redeeming qualities, unlike Darkseid who is just evil.
Darkseid wants the 'Anti-Life Equation", Thanos wants to "marry" Death. Same thing. Thanos is pretty much Marvel's version of Darkseid, but they aren't related.
Both Marvel and DC have characters that are quite similar to one another in a way, and this is one of the more obvious ones.
However, both of these major villains are a lot of fun to read when they're well written, especially Thanos.
thanos is not a homage to darkseid in anyway BUT they are very well written and powerfull characters and after reading both major stories i have to say that thanos' THANOS QUEST/INFINITY GAUNTLET puts him as the one of the best written comic book characters in existence.. but thats another topic ^-^
Jack Kirby left Marvel because they wouldn't let him end Thor with a Ragnarok style event, he goes to DC. Over at DC he creates the New Gods whose main antagonist is Darkseid. Marvel realized Jack Kirby had lots of good ideas so they made a purple Darkseid and named him Thanos. To further set him apart they gave him a pimped out Power Glove™. Over time Darkseid and Thanos got nerfed to hell, evidenced by those defeats to the NYPD, Street Thugs, Stairs, and Capitalism. Now that Thanos is gonna be in a movie however, Darkseid will soon be referred to as "Thanos and a Geodude's love child."
