Ever since Thanos made a cameo in The Avengers, many of us have wondered when the cosmic powerhouse will show his purple face again. There's been a fair amount of talk about which actor will step into the Avatar of Death's giant boots, and, according to Variety and Latino Review, W. and Oldboy star Josh Brolin will be transformed into the evil character. Latino Review claims Brolin will serve as the voice of Thanos in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Can you see Brolin as the cosmic threat, Viners? Share your thoughts with us below.

Guardians of the Galaxy is directed by James Gunn and opens August 1.

I hope they do a cgi version of thanos based off of josh brolin like what they did with bill nighy for Davy Jones in pirates of the Caribbean. That would be awesome. For avengers 3, they r saying loki and ultron will reprise their roles as well. Perhaps hel the asgardian goddess of death and loki's daughter will be the one that thanos courts for the third film.

While Latino Review is very unreliable source, the idea of Josh Brolin as Thanos is ... interesting.

I'm okay with this, I didn't have anyone in mind for Thanos, but Brolin has the voice for it imo.

I love Josh Brolin

From Batman to Thanos. Quite the upgrade!

#15 Posted by MrMazz (1507 posts) - - Show Bio

It's not Ron Perlaman but Josh Brolin is a fine actor who can do subtle and command the screen without going OVER THE TOP, while alos being able to go over the top.

Latino Review is usually a hit and miss not sure if their really reliable at this point

Interesting choice. Certainly not a bad one. But interesting. But it's Latino Review... so we'll see

#18 Posted by BritishMonkey (347 posts) - - Show Bio

Well, not that he'd be bad at it, I still want Damoin Poitier to have the role fully.

#19 Posted by Jeremy1989 (1073 posts) - - Show Bio

So both Thanos and Quicksilver have banged Scarlet Witch.

And both of them are related to her.

This is complete miscasting. Brolin isn't even purple?

Cool. While I like Affleck, wanted Brolin for Batman. But Thanos is awesome as well.

It's been confirmed by the wrap, if that means anything.

#24 Posted by Cloakx14 (4678 posts) - - Show Bio

I don't know why, but I can see that.

This may sound ridiculous, but his head kinda looks like Thanos's too. :/

#29 Posted by Cuboid (146 posts) - - Show Bio

I like Brolin. Hadn't really thought of him for Thanos, but I think he'll do a good job.

That. Sounds. AWESOME!

And Variety.

Yeah. Latino Review is hit and miss but Variety is not someone I would dismiss at all.

On topic...if they're doing any type of Live Action...I sell this hard. I can't even imagine a live action Thanos...it would look retarded imo. And I haven't liked Josh Brolin since The Goonies so...

If he's just the voice, then whoever is fine.

#33 Posted by snarkybits (399 posts) - - Show Bio

Have you not seen the Avengers?

#34 Posted by Dark_Guyver (2496 posts) - - Show Bio

Awesome if true! He totally fits the part.

#35 Posted by THORSON (3042 posts) - - Show Bio

what happened to the guy that played him in the avengers?

I watched Captain America the Winter Soldier with certain people who work at Marvel & they told me then that it was Josh Brolin. I can't say who told me cause it could cost them their job, but I can confirm this.

#38 Posted by LyraFay (2640 posts) - - Show Bio

Are they going to waste or actually use him since Marvel made Sir Anthony Hopkins sleep through an entire movie.

#39 Posted by The Mast (793 posts) - - Show Bio

He'll be fine. Like Spader will be fine.

Why Kevin Grevioux isn't voicing Thanos, I'll never know.

#40 Posted by Cloakx14 (4678 posts) - - Show Bio

i've always thought Tony Todd from Candyman & Final Destination films would have been good voice for thanos. he has a deep scary voice.

#41 Posted by imredjimmy (55 posts) - - Show Bio

Great casting, I can see him pulling it off.

#43 Posted by SHAZAM117 (4810 posts) - - Show Bio

Had my heart set on Leonard Nimoy voicing the Mad Titan :-/

...but, Brolin is a great choice and will due the voice justice!

@captainmarvel4ever:

But he means not live action actor like Hulk that certain characters literally can't be in live action they would have to be in CGI in a live action movie. You mean it like the way you feel about Shazam that he wouldn't work in live action. Opinions on a Shazam movie aside you could actually do live action with him in the sense of cast a kid and cast an adult for Shazam. He means Thanos need to be CGI because no practical effect would be able to make a comic book like Thanos.

I thought they said Thanos wasn't going to be in "Guardians"

No they actually confirmed he IS going to be. Just not as like the main bad guy that they fight. He'll make another cameo.
