Ending on a High Note
As the book opens, we see that Leatherface has discovered the girls who escaped last issue. At the same time Sherrif Hewitt is being scolded by his mama for letting them escape. Leatherface kills one who mistakenly tries to make friends, the other two run off only to be captured by the Fat Lady and her daughter. While they are unconscience Sherrif Hewitt finds a note, that he gets very excited over.
It always comes down to the survivor girl doesn't it. Now this is what I have been talking about since the beginning of the series. While I think Friday the 13th books can get away with just the gore, Halloween and Texas Chainsaw needs more in the creepiness department. Here it delivers. One of, if not "THE" reason it succeeds, they focus on the family. Monty making out with the girl after he kills her, the debate over who gets the last surviving member of the choir. There is just a lot of things here to give you the shivers.
The final issue here, it does end the series on a high note. It also has a pretty clever ending that has just the smallest of set ups earlier in the series.
