In the dystopian Zürich of 2032, an economic crisis that happened in 2012, the richer got richer and the poorer became so poor that they were forced to build their new homes in shanty-towns at the bottom of a dried out Lake Zurich. Journalist Finn Meyer one night happens upon a group of thugs beating up an old man. It is then that he witnesses a man, dressed like Willhelm Tell - Swiss National Hero - who saves the old man by shooting them with his crossbow and savagely beating them up. Meyer decides to investigate the mysterious vigilante, who apparently possesses superhuman strength, the other media have dubbed a "creature", but gets caught up in a conspiracy of policits, religion and economy. And when a person calling himself Gessler - in Swiss folklore, he was the enemy of Tell - shows up on a glider, seemingly possessing electric powers, Meyer decides to investigate the origins of both Tell and Gessler.
