    Tekken movie

Apart from the other fighting game movies, this movie is actually pretty good. For Tekken or fighting game fans out there, you may be disappointed of how the story is written and several changes that were made to the characters. I wasn't familiar with the Tekken universe. But I have to say that this movie wanted me to participate in the Tekken matches.

Okay, so we are introduced to the main character, Jin Kazama who intents to take a challenge against the Tekken Corporation for the death of his mother. Revenge may not be the only answer for him to face the Mishima family but to save the rest of humanity who live outside the streets. There are other corporations who have their own fighters to participate in dangerous matches. The fighters' look and their signatures were awesome to watch but the fight scenes were pretty short though. I loved the look of Heihachi Mishima who was played by none other than Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa who recently played as Shang Tsung in the first Mortal Kombat movie. The acting was okay. As most actors tried their best to bring out the style and look of the video game characters, they weren't that bad.

I had some disappointments with this movie. There weren't a lot of backstories to these characters or fighters to tell. Except for Jin who found out that his father, Kazuya Mishima was the one who killed his mother. But there were some backstories when Kazuya introduced the fighters and details to his father. As for Jin's character, it wasn't that bad. But there was a problem with his romantic characterization. First he had a girlfriend named Kara who live on the streets and then later after his mother's death, Jin walks away from her and takes part in the Tekken match and woos a female fighter, Christie. What's up with that? He could have at least kissed Kara and tell her. "I'll be back. There's something I have to do". Jin is not like the character who flirts with women and later kisses them. Then after winning the matches and facing his own father, Kara just stood there and watched Jin coming from the Tekken Corporation and people following him. No running, hugging and kissing each other in the end? That's just not him. And finally the running time. It's only 92 minutes and this would have been an epic fighting video game movie which should be at least been 2 hours. This movie has lots of potential and lots of stories to tell. Maybe we'll see a sequel someday because I would love to see another one.

Anyways, this movie was good. Not bad for the newcomers to the Tekken franchise. If you're a newbie to Tekken games, I would suggest to watch the movie and see what you think. If you're a fan of the game series, then I have to say you will be leaving the Tekken matches. This movie will receive 3 signature moves out of 5.

The governments of the world have fallen to Global warfare, and in the midst of their collapses eight companies have risen from the ashes with the most powerful being Tekken, a company so powerful it toppled the American government. Collectively, the companies are known as Iron Fist. Headed by Heihachi Mishima (Cary - Hiroyuki Tagawa), a tournament is waged every year and each company sends a representative to compete in the tournament. From the slums of the inner city, Jin Kazama (John Foo) who...
