I've never read one, but I heard the original TMNT was bloody and vulgar unlike the cartoons. Is this comic more like the original comics or more like the cartoons?

It's not particularly gory (the closest thing I can think of is Casey being stabbed through the stomach), but it's not a kids' book either.

@jmg: In the original run they weren't terribly vulgar but it was violent as hell. People got decapitated and gutted but it wasn't really all that gory by today's standards.

@jmg: The new tmnt run is a bit more mature but also isn't too serious. The turtles banter the way they should, and Shredder feels like a dangerous character. The series doesn't show gore, but it does show violent actions. Here's an example. This is about as gory as it gets.

The IDW comic run is awesome so far. But gory? Nah pretty tame it's not even pg 13 violent. Casey being stabbed in City fall was not partifularly graphic.

The original mirage comic was far more gory.
