Remember how a script leaked a long time ago -- with Casey Jones in a key role -- and basically everyone was disappointed after reading it? Michael Bay and others claimed that script saw "the shredder" and, according to a recent report from Geek Tyrant, it sounds like they were telling the truth about that script being left in the past (at least to some degree). The website says they spoke with a source who's "very close to production" and, when they asked if Casey Jones will appear, they were told the man who loves to scream "goongala" will not be in the upcoming movie. However, they were informed that Will Arnett's character, Vernon Fenwick, will get additional screen time.

It's still possible the hero could appear on the big screen in the future, though. William Fichtner previously revealed his contract included three movies, so there's definitely room for Jones to eventually jump into the picture.

Viners, are you disappointed Casey might not be in the movie? Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is directed by Jonathan Liebesman and opens August 8th, 2014.

I think the movie could have benefited having Casey in it, he could have been a love interest for April (Megan Fox), could have been a character for Raph to bond too, so I'm disappointed he won't be in this movie. I've been pretty excited for this movie since seeing the cgi suits and TMNT's sewer hang out, except for the pizza hut boxes made into chairs. Kinda fun, but they could have found chairs somewhere...

I'm trying to stay open-minded about the movie. I'm trying to view this as what it will be based on by those who are involved in making this movie. I'm expecting an over the top action movie with crazy CGI, but little thought to character development or plot. I won't say I'm glad that they are making "creative decisions", like not having Casey Jones in it, but it is what it is. This will probably be an entertaining enough movie with cheap laughs and ridiculous action, but that is all that it will have going for it...just like Transformers.

At the end of the day, I can just go re-read IDW's comic and be glad that there is still a great media for the Turtles today, even if the movie does not do them justice. I'll still watch it, and probably enjoy it well enough, but only because I'm keeping my expectations realistic.

I think it's better that Casey should be introduced in the sequel, even though he's a major character of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles universe.

I think having him in the first movie is too soon and rushing it. Just like how they tried to cram every Green Lantern into the Green Lantern movie.

As big a role as he has always had with the Turtles, this is certainly strange. He certainly isn't a core necessity to what makes TMNT what it is, so I'm okay with it. Sort of wish April would be absent too...

Casey was barely in the original cartoon, so I'm not too upset. Besides, they can focus more on the Turtles in this one, and then bring in Casey later. Don't want to many protagonists. 4 turtles, April and Splinter is fine.
