For my money it's gotta be SLASH, sure he was only a villain in the cartoon, but in the TMNT adventures comic he was briefly a member of the team, and died saving the other turtles.

There have been 5th turtles?

There was 5 for the series TMNT: The Next Mutation, but that's all she was. Pretty sure she was in some of the comics too.

Mona Lisa actually wasn't a turtle, she was just a lizard lady.

TMNT Adventures had a few, Slash, as well as alternate future versions of Raphael and Donatello who hung out with the present day turtles, and aside Venus there was another female turtle named Mona Lisa in the original animated series. Oh and Metalhead the robot turtle.

Oh yeah Mona wasn't a turtle, I looked it up, she was a salamander, I just remembered my action figure of her had a shell, which kinda threw me off.

Slash is awesome. If he was on the team, it's gotta be him :)

Sparda says:

"Slash is awesome. If he was on the team, it's gotta be him :)"

He joined the team during the story arc Terracide, which was told in the TMNT Adventures comic, he died at the end of the story though, when he stayed on an alien ship that was crashing into the sun to make sure Null and Maligna didn't escape. The other turtles called him the 5th turtle during the memorial they held for him.

i'm putting 5th in " so my favorite "5th" turtle, Casey Jones. since there were only two actual turtles to pick from... maybe we can jumpstart a more interesting thread, who's your favorite "5th" turtle. (Casey, Fugitoid, April i guess, Zog (the Triceriton), that skater geko from the cartoon, etc.)

If anyone has read the Road Hogs story story set in the "After the Bomb"  continuity were in the future a nuclear war has killed off most of America and the survivors have turned into mutants you see a school of mutant turtles led by an old age Raphael who is suffering from dementia and thinks they're his his brothers. I'd vote for one of those guys.

Slash from the Archie comic series was cool, he's was like the Venom of TMNT but seeing as he first appeared in the 'tweener period were they were slowly moving away from lighter stories to darker he was given a comedic edge of just wanting his palm tree. Sadlyby the time the book did go darker they'd made Slash a hero. I would've kept him as a bad guy longer just to see if he was all talk or whether he really wanted to eat the the turtles.  The cartoon version wasn't really much, even though "Slash the Evil Turtle from Dimenion-X" is a good episode the cartoon Slash just wasn't as good. Subsequent episodes he appeared in weren't much. They should have also kept his look like the Archie comic and action figure version too.

The less said about Venus the better.

Egan, the link you posted was to one of Archie's specials after Clarrain and Allen left the book. The turtle in question is actualy April temporarily changed into a turtle.
