In case you somehow missed it the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are back. They have been back for a little while now. With a hit TV show on Nickelodeon, a comic series from IDW Publishing and a live action...movie in the works, the Turtles are here to stay.

If you've been down the toy aisles, you also know there is a variety of toys available. We've even featured a couple of the LEGO Ninja Turtles sets. Here's just a few different items you can pick up.

There's already quite a few action figures available. These stand just over four inches and seem to have the best sculpting and articulation. They're just the right size so if you are able to pick up a lot (and you will want more), they won't take up as much space as the bigger line.

The back of each package does offer some information in case you're not fully aware of their entire history. We'll be looking at Raphael, Michaelangelo, a Foot Soldier, 'Ooze Scoopin'" Donatello and Metalhead.

What's also cool is there is a playset you can pick up for under $25 and check out the packaging.

It looks like a pizza box and that also means it's convenient for storage. The playset simply unfolds and pops up.

You do have to apply some stickers to it. The doors to the pizza joint open up, there's a pizza shooter (of course), the manhole opens as well as the vault door to the tunnels.

It's not the biggest playset but for the price and because of the size of the figures, it's pretty cool.You do have enough space to place and move the characters around. With the open design, you also have room to open up your 'playing' area.

Each figure comes with an assortment of weapons. They are all on a piece of plastic that you have to twist out. Be careful because some of the thinner parts could twist off as well.

It seems the newer line features Mutagen Ooze. Kids like ooze, right? Who doesn't like slimy substance that you try not to think about what is exactly inside. You can buy a tube of ooze and they even come with a tiny turtle.

The one figure I have is Ooze Scoopin' Donnie. He has a backpack thing that you can put some ooze in. You push down a lever and it pours into a scoop that you can flick to shoot the ooze out. Sounds a little messy.

The Turtles do have some allies and here's a look at Metalhead.

What fun would these figures be without some bad guys? You can get Shredder and his various henchmen. I figured a Foot Soldier would make a good punching bag.

But that's not all.

There's so many different products but this one really stands out. It's a Teenage Mutant Ninja Piggy Bank from FAB Starpoint.

Now the problem is there are more figures to get. Obviously I'm missing a Leonardo. And of course you gotta have Splinter and Shredder. And what about April O'Neil? Or the other bad guys.

They just recently came out with Leatherhead....I saw it in the store, almost bought it.

I like the normal characters, the ooze scooping and other gimmick figures don't interest me. I do like Metal-Head though

Wow those figures look awesome! @g_man now that you brought these toys, you got to definitely watch the series with your daughter. It's really and way of the top funny. It's entertaining for kids and adults and you don't have to worry about any of violence because there's no killing involved. The articulation is great and now i'm attempted to buy these figures someday! Thanks Tony!

Woooo! I have Leo, Metalhead, Shredder, Mikey, Dopound and the ooze -- just because the baby turtle is so cute.

the only ones who are good are the turtles...like wtf leather head is smaller than donnie? okay!? I did a repaint and put some chains on the weapons

I think it's a bit weird that the turtles look nothing like they do in the show (aside from details like the crack in Raph's shell). I mean, their design is perfect for toys! Maybe they had to do the sculpts before the characters were finalized.

@g_man: That's awesome, I hope you guys keep watching the episodes and enjoy them. I heard Casey Jones is appearing in 2nd season. I honestly can't wait for his appearance! :-)

is it just me or does the Raphael figure look like it has a much better sculpt then the other figures?

@hermatt: I know what you mean... I was going through a box of stuff with my son and fond my old Mikey turtle.. he wanted it so I put it in his collection with his original GI Joe Figure... they look cool, but nothing beats retro
