The Secret History of the Foot Clan

    The Good

Written by the intellect minds of Mateus Santolouco & Erik Burnham, this new miniseries explores the history of the Foot Clan, as well as the legacy of Takeshi Tatsuo, master and predecessor of Shredder. Within this issue, we see flashbacks of the clan and the founding fathers who help preserve the legacy. I believe Santolouco & Burnham did an excellent job making the story as reader-friendly as possible for new readers and fans of the Ninja Turtles; also breaking down important material needed to know throughout the first issue for those unfamiliar with the title. One of the main reasons I think this makes a great issue is because the story consistently focuses on the main realm, explaining most of the essentials on the history of the Foot Clan legacy.

Adding the modernized sketches of Santolouco, who also took the task of writing the series, the panels are presented in the most vivid way possible. With the colors of Joao "Azeitona" Vieira, it extends a more intensified feeling on the battles fought, seemingly placing you into a trance. Flipping through the issue again, I can honestly say that the designs within the pages are drawn out to be probably some of the best artwork I've ever come across in the comic industry.

    The Bad

There's nothing bad that caught my eyes in the first issue and feel like it'll will be added onto the list of my favorite comics. The only downfall would probably be the cover price of $3.99. Although, Marvel releases the same pricing, they do add a digital copy for our personal references, unlike Image. I don't really mind, cause I'm already loving the new miniseries and wish to support Image if they release more comics of this standards.

    The Verdict

Unarguably, one of the best IDW Publishing issues every released. If you were a born around the 90's and remember watching 'TMNT' growing up as a kid, I HIGHLY suggest you to stop by your local comic shop and pick this issue up. The new miniseries, written by the collaboration of both talents is definitely going to be raising lots of attention throughout the world of comics this new year.

Well, this is definitely something I've been waiting for in the main Turtles book. This book is great at introducing you to the mystery behind the Foot Clan. And it does it spectacularly well. We are given some history, see how it ties into other Turtle lore so far, and comes across as something that has more gravity to it than a regular Turtle book. And best of all is the cliffhanger that really spells some things out.The one thing that I really didn't like is that this book is very much meant f...
