    A city gripped in terror.

Shredder succeeded in a big part of his plan to take over the city. Now he must annihilate rival gangs that still choose to stand in his way. The Turtles must figure out a way to fight back, and the best way to do this is to make new allies. -summary

Collecting TMNT issues 25 - 28, this second chapter of City Fall concludes the story arc wrapping things up in a big way, by delivering a huge brawl meant to settle it all. The trip leading to the climax was non stop fun, and things are looking better for the future as always with this series and that's how it should be.

The writing remains top notch with the Turtles being forced to not only deal with Leonardo's situation, but they also must find out a way to either stop or meet Shredder's takeover. Splinter receives some good face time once again joining forces with his first mutant enemy Old Hob. It's nice seeing the old rat actually involved in the action instead of sitting back in the lair. Splinter has been awesome in this series, and volumes three and six are proof of that. It's cool that he faces off against Shredder again. Speaking of Shredder, this volume continues to develop him as a serious threat and a master planner; I can't recall ever reading or seeing Shredder this amazing.

The fun just doesn't stop as more mutants come into play, the Purple Dragons leader makes his appearance, Casey Jones returns to action, and classic villains Rocksteady and Bebop make their appearances; I was especially impressed by the showing of these two. They have never been this great before. This volume seems to have everything. The first several issues works through some steady build up and the plot begins to steadily clear up, but once it reaches towards its climax the pay off is just so worth it.

The dialog is every bit as catchy and edgy as before with more cool interactions, and this is visually the best this series has been. The artwork is once again very clean and detailed with vivid, lively colors. The oil-like painted flashback panels are gorgeous and simply shows the series visual range. Once again there's some really good action with some brutal moments.

If there are any real flaws to this title besides the various references to the Micro-Series which spotlights various characters, I certainly didn't find them. In closing, this is definitely not the best place for someone coming into this series. I will admit if someone did start here it wouldn't feel terribly madcap, and the artwork at least will rope in readers; but this series must be enjoyed in all of its glory because every volume up to this point has something to offer. I'll also point out again that this series is far darker than the animated series, with various references to death and killings taking place. Highly recommended for those following the series.

Pros: Very nice artwork and gripping plot

Cons: Micro-Series references are starting to be a small issue now
