This book was no fun.  I bought this to read to my four year-old son.  He is nuts about the Ninja Turtles especially Raphael.  I thought that this Archie Book would be a great story to read to him but it was so overladen with political dialog that is was annoying to me and boring to him.  I am not against anything that the book states but it was so filled with jargon it was like reading a political pamphlet.  To give you an idea it was more political than a Captain Planet comic. To give a quote....

"Shrimp nets are required by law to carry Ted's Turtle Extruder Devices-- A box with a grate that slides back and up to a trap door on a spring.  Bars on a grate are spread widely enough to let shrimp flow freely into the end sac of the net...Fist and sea turtles, being larger than shrimp, bump against the bars and are deflected upward through the hinged door and out into the sea... free... ...that way turtles like this Kemp's Ridley Sea Turtle won't drown...and die....All five sea turtle species found America's coasts are endangered...and Kemp's Ridley most seriously so.  prier to the 1960's  the Kemp's was exploited for it's eggs.  Mule trains would carry hundreds of thousands of eggs to market...thousands of females were caught offshore and cut open just for their eggs." -- Man Ray

That is just one of the ridiculously long winded quotes in the book.  I get the public service announcement aspect but this book was about as subtle as a sledgehammer.  I like books with a message so none of that bothered me.  It is simply the method.  As far as a cartoony story for kids this was just alright.  Like I said my youngest son was bored and so was I what more can I say.

I would not recommend this to anyone as the story is not that great.  There in nothing inappropriate about it.  It is just dull as hell.  The art is nice.  I gave this book one star.
