I like it, do you?
Let me begin this review by explaining my title. I personally would have given this book 5 stars, but I'm not reviewing for me, I'm reviewing for you, so here is my opinion:
Turtles 29 has us catching up to the brothers 4 as they head for Northampton to a farm owned by April`s mother and father. The turtles, still recovering from the events of City Fall, are hoping to simply stop a moment and regroup and maybe help Leo through his ordeal. Morale is low and so bickering in the family of course is the theme of the book. Leo isn't himself and it's pushing his brothers, particularly Raphael.
It's a great issue that for me is a 5 star story but if you're looking for more action then it's only a 4. I feel like it's a welcome change after the adrenaline rush of City Fall. Waltz continues to write the characters well and each one has his own reactions to things and it's a lot of fun to see how each is handling events.
Ross Campbell has returned as artist for the Northampton arch and while his Turtles are a bit cutesy I have to say that I love the guys art. It's beautiful really. I'm a big fan of stylized artists and his work is definitely that. His humans look great and his backgrounds are beautiful. If nothing else this issue is a buy for the art if not the story.
Overall it may have been a weaker issue but it was still great. After City Fall I feel like this sort of story is what we need. Take the focus off the huge events around the Turtles and focus in on them as characters and their interactions. This was done very well and I honestly hope the next issue continues in the same fashion.
