The Titans intervene between a vigilante group and an exchange student when a secret project goes missing.

The Teen Titans answer their mail. Robin decides that the team will respond to a missive, sent by a guidance counselor, from Lansford High School. Outside the high school, two groups of protestors square off against one another. The self-styled "Vigilantes" oppose the school's foreign exchange program. While the student's in the opposing protest group fully support it. The school's guidance counselor, Doctor Paxton, meets the Teen Titans, as the team's copter sets down. Paxton introduces the Teen Titans to the school's foreign exchange students. A factory worker, from the Lansford Research Corporation, arrives and accuses one of the exchange students, Hans Vernick, of stealing "Honey Bun". Immediately the Vigilante's close on Vernick. Their opposition closes ranks around Vernick, to protect him.

Violence breaks out between the two protest groups. The Teen Titans are quick to suppress the conflict before it can escalate into a riot. The Teen Titans escort the foreign exchange students to safety, then convene in Paxton's office. Save for Kid Flash, who is surreptitiously keeping a watchful eye on Vernick. Paxton reveals that "Honey Bun" is a robot jungle terrain fighter, designed, and built, by the populace of Lansford for the military. The town's continued prosperity hinges on the robot's success. A police officer arrives with a warrant for Vernick's arrest. Moments later, Kid Flash radios in with a report that Vernick is, indeed, in command of "Honey Bun". The Teen Titans provide a distraction for "Honey Bun", while Kid Flash snatches the controller form Vernick. As Vernick flees, he is fired upon by Doctor Michael Larner, a researcher on the "Honey Bun" project.

The Teen Titan's turn the control device over to Larner, then search the surrounding environs for Vernick. Wonder Girl spies Vernick scaling the fence, outside the Lansford Research Corporation. The Vigilante's get to Vernick first, and drag him away. The Teen Titans arrive, just as the Vigilantes are preparing to tar and feather Vernick. Kid Flash grabs the bag of feathers and disperses them at super-speed, blinding the Vigilantes. Very quickly, the Teen Titans subdue the Vigilantes. Vernick admits to stealing "Honey Bun", but only to keep it from falling into the hands of Larner, an industrial spy. The Teen Titans scour the town of Lansford, from the air, in search of some sign of "Honey Bun". Robin spies a giant bear float, being driven into Smedlyville, for a football game. As soon as the float gets past the police blockade, "Honey Bun" emerges from within the bear.

Piloted by Larner, "Honey Bun" makes a beeline for the Smedlyville airfield, and a waiting aircraft. To prevent the aircraft from taking off, Kid Flash digs out a massive trench, at super-speed, in the middle of the runway. The aircraft rolls into the trench. From the wreckage emerges "Honey Bun". Larner pilots "Honey Bun" towards Smedlyville, intent on taking the townsfolk hostage. The Teen Titans order everyone into their homes. Larner commands "Honey Bun" to destroy the town of Smedlyville. The Teen Titans engage "Honey Bun" in combat, but quickly discover they are no match for the robot. As "Honey Bun" moves in to crush Robin beneath it's foot pads, the Boy Wonder loads a pneumatic pistol with sand. Robin shoots the sand into "Honey Bun's" joints, causing the robot to topple over. Larner is turned over to the authorities, and Vernick's name is cleared. The Teen Titans depart to the cheers of the students.
