A New Beginning - Sort Of
A new writer (Felicia Henderson) jumps aboard the Tower and crafts a tale the reintroduces Beast Boy (Gar Logan) and Raven into the Teen Titans flock. The characterization both story and art wise is dead on, but there are a few minor things that held up the flow of this jumping on point for new readers. First, the humor is terrific, from Beast Boy's obnoxious attitude, to the arguing between Bombshell and Aquagirl. I also enjoyed the conversation between Wonder Girl (Cassie Sandsmark) and Beast Boy - hopefully Henderson will delve more into this as Cassie begins to really make her mark in Titans' history. Another brief, but important scene is on the East Coast, with Cyborg as it's revealed that he's looking out for his best friend, Gar. I also hope this means both teams of Titans will remain close to one another. What I didn't understand was how Static instinctively knew how to assist Dr. Midnight in healing a wounded Raven. There's also a missing segue where Miss Martian and Bombshell are in the lab with the team, then suddenly getting ready for bed. Other than that, great issue and from the looks of the mysterious and bizarre new menace the team's about to face, I'm eager to see how Henderson handles an entire issue of pure action - fingers crossed it's as good as the pencils of popular artist, Joe Bennett, deserve! Oh, and the Ravager back up story continues to test the mettle of Deathstroke's daughter and it looks like Rose will have to face her own inner demons whether she wants to or not!
