    Showdown In Times Square

    The Story:

Wonder Girl fights Superboy in Times Square while the rest of the team gets aquatinted with Kid Flash and Solstice for the first time.

    My Thoughts:

At the end of the last issue we were promised a confrontation with Superboy this issue. The story begins in Times Square where Cassie is being followed by Superboy. The two eventually begin to throw down with each other. The plot gaps didn't go unnoticed by me. Why was Cassie in New York and how did she get there? There was no mention of her character heading that direction in last months issue (as far as I recall). You just kind of have to shrug that one off and try to enjoy the issue. The fight scene between the two wasn't too bad. The duration lasted the entire issue and occurred simultaneously with the other characters becoming more acquainted with each other.

Once again readers may not enjoy the pacing a lot. Aside from the Wonder Girl and Superboy confrontation, the rest of the issue revolvers around the other Teen Titans members meeting Kid Flash and Solstice for the first time. I had mixed feelings towards the interaction between characters. At times I felt some of the dialogue was sort of annoying but then again these are teenagers so I suppose it's expected for them to behave and act this way. At least next months issue looks to be action-packed as it will mark the first time the entire team fights side by side.

One of my favorite things about this series is the artwork. I've been a fan of Brett Booth for a while now. It seems not everyone enjoys his style. Personally, I love it. What I also really like about the art is the coloring. Andrew Dalhouse is a great colorist. I find the art style very suitable for this type of series. It works great for a series starring teenage characters.

Slowly but surely the team has assembled. I think everyone wants to see what they're made of. Hopefully in time this series will evolve into one of the more enjoyable team books and surpass the quality of its predecessor.

    Rating: 3/5

I've had a mixed reading experience with the Teen Titans series. I really didn't care for issue one. I really liked issue two. I hated issue three. Now issue four is added to ones that I like. Maybe the best one yet.  THE GOOD: I really like the art. Brett Booth draws characters different so all the people look different and interesting. The Times Square part, his art shined the most. He added quite a bit of easter eggs and the detail was amazing. The story doesn't add much but it makes up for i...

While my last review of Teen Titans ended with me declaring I'd given up on this book, I'm afraid I'm dead wrong. While it still needs some more time to get great, the fact that the team is assembled and ready to go is good news. Lobdell has been criticized for his dialogue being cheesy and I'd agree with that, yet he's able to do team books very well because of how he handles the characterization. Teen Titans probably should've been assembled sooner. Comparing this to Red Hood, where Lobdel was...
