    A Fresh Look

I'll agree with most everyone on the interwebs, this is FAR better than the book we had when the New 52 kicked off. No offense to the creative teams that worked on the last volume, but this one issue seems to be better than that entire run.

First off, I like how everyone on the team seems to serve a unique purpose. With Red Robin calling the shots, he utilizes them to maximize their effectiveness. And, even though they're down half the roster (Superboy & Kid Flash, I'll miss you!) they're a much tighter, more stable unit.

Kenneth Rocafort is one of my favorite artists, hands down. While this doesn't stand up to his work on Red Hood & the Outlaws, it's the best thing artistically that's happened to this incarnation of the Teen Titans.

Now, on to some things that thew me off. First of all is the characterization. Tim not really caring if the bad guys died really threw me. Yes, you can't save everyone and choosing between them and the bus full of kids is a no brainer, but it just seems like they didn't even try.

Beast Boy is green now. Okay. I'm not complaining, but an explanation would be groovy. Not talking about it just seems like they're trying to sweep the red under the carpet.

Where did Raven come from on the bus?! Was she already on there? That part didn't really translate very well with me. Also, it seemed like she completely gave up when the solution for the problem didn't involve magic, and she mentioned it several times, which was annoying.

I liked Wonder Girl's role as the muscle on the team because she's a badass, but they need to work on giving her some depth, there was zero for her in this issue.

And then there's Bunker, dear Bunker. They're turning you into a stereotype, which is the exact WRONG direction for your character. Was the scene where he attacked the gay basher necessary? I'm not condoning gay bashing, but it seemed REALLY forced and didn't serve the story at all, like a public service announcement. Being gay shouldn't be treated like a personality quirk, but a trait. How he's written makes him look like the token gay guy.

The villain didn't seem to grab me either, but I'm sure they're just building up to a reveal in the next issue or so. They should have done it at the end of this issue, I think. That would have given me more of a reason to pick up the next issue. Right now this book isn't cut from my list, but it's on the chopping block. We'll see what the next two issues are like and then I'll make the call.

    Stay classy!

Teen Titans #1 Review - We Know Who To Call 0

First off, I wanna get this out of the way: Regardless of how you feel about this new volume of Teen Titans, you have to admit that the team working it is a MASSIVE improvement from the last one. I generally don't like to call out certain creators, since I know everyone has the right to like who and what they want, but I also have the right to my own opinion, and in said opinion, Scott Lobdell is BAD writer. Every comic I have ever seen that had his name on it was mediocre at best, and downright...

      TEEN TITANS #1 0

WRITER: Will PfeiferART: Kenneth RocafortNOT SPOILER FREEMy first impression of the issue of the cover was thinking that it was in bad taste to try and obviously milk this whole internet teeny theme by doing a faux twitter-facebook hybrid thing, which looked odd and it doesn't seem effortlessly young as opposed to Young Avengers, who Rocafort and Pfeifer probably had the latest run slipped under the table to them by the DC editors and a note that said “do it like this!”.Also the over...
