Many centuries ago, witches were burned at the stake for their “crimes”, they possessed magic gained from two books: one a book of light, the other of darkness. The latter book was forbidden and so kept hidden by the Witches of the Black Rose who swore never to open it. But now, one witch has gone against this law and with the newly acquired book could cause unimaginable harm to the world…
Raven Hex is the witch that has stolen the book of dark spells and she intends to use it to bring her dream to fruition. She hates mankind for the way they have treated witches and will finally get her revenge.
She plans to use the spells to bring about a time of terror for mankind and prosperity for all followers of the craft.
But there is someone who foresees what will happen if Raven goes through with her plans, a second Burning will be at hand and she will not allow it. Instead, she will stand up and fight Raven no matter the cost. She is none other than Raven's own sister, Rowan, otherwise known as Tarot.
At Witch Hollow in Salem, Massachusetts a youthful and fair woman gazes at her Tarot cards, watched by her winged cat, she is Tarot.
Tarot has tried to use the Tarot cards to find the whereabouts of her sister Raven but finds that her sister's sorcery is preventing her from getting a location.
Instead she is getting visions of a blackness, a blackness that is coming, and a dark warrior who stands in this shadow. The man seems to be defined by heroics...and death. Tarot decides that he is the starting point in her quest and that if she finds him she will find her sister, so she sets off to prepare.
She knows that since she lives by the first law of witchcraft -otherwise known as the Witch's Creed, "Do what thou will but harm none."- that things may be difficult. This law will prevent her from using her powers in any negative fashion but does not prevent her from using it to protect herself and/or others.
As she walks through the castle, followed by a flying Pooka she heads off to find something within the house. She knows that she will not be able to defeat her sister's darkness with naught but her spells and robes. Instead she needs something that was crafted with magic, she needs her witch's armor.
So as Tarot arrives in the room where the armor is kept she undresses herself and then applies the enchanted leather armor. It is meant to shield her from any harm that may come upon her.
Her head is adorned with horns to invoke the power of The God and her armor bears the symbol of the moon to gain the power of The Goddess.
Fully dressed, Tarot the Witch of the Black Rose swears that the witches shall NOT suffer another Burning, not as long as she can stop it.
October 29, 11:32 PM: In downtown Salem two young male miscreants named Pierce and Kreskin vandalize a man's property. Spray painting his windows and smashing his carved pumpkins.
However, to their surprise it turns out the man was simply watching and waiting. He then decides to burst out his front door with a baseball bat, chasing down the two guys while threatening to bash their heads in.
The two jump a fence in their effort to escape and run into a dark alley, feeling safe as the angry man rushes by shouting to the skies.
The two laugh to themselves and brag that nothing is scarier than them tonight, that is until they turn around to see two pumpkin ghouls right behind them, ready to strike.
Tarot, now dressed in her armor gazes at the legendary Sword of the Black Rose and at last takes it from the hands of The Goddess statue that holds it.
The blade holds immense power and Tarot fears the fact that she may have to use this power against her own sister. Her thoughts are interrupted by her mother who asks if she would like her to come along.
Tarot says no because the cards foretell a great danger for Tarot's mother should she come along. Besides, she believes the dark warrior will provide her with all the help she'll need.
In an unknown location, Pierce and Kreskin try to regain their composure and figure out where the ghouls have taken them.
Promising never to smash pumpkins again and then asking "Where the Hell are we?" the two hear a deadly and seductive voice.
"Hell doesn't exist boys...but I do and...I'm much hotter." Raven says as she emerges from the shadows. Pierce and Kreskin are transfixed by this witch and find themselves unable to take their eyes off her.
Raven introduces herself to them and when they ask if they can go, believing their offense to be smashing pumpkins she delivers a swift kick to Pierce's face.
She tells the two that there only purpose is to serve her and she has a small task for them...she concludes by telling them they better not fail her.
At Salem Woods Cemetery, Pierce, Kreskin and a hired man are grave digging questioning themselves as to whether its the right one.
The hired digger shouts at them to shut up just as he hits a coffin, removing the dirt he reveals the picture of its inhabitant, a freakish two-headed girl.
The spirit of the body the triumphant three are stealing calls out to the Graveyard Guardian to rescue her corpse.
So, fully dressed in his costume, the Skeleton Man makes himself known and shouting at the terrified grave robbers he demands they return the coffin to its resting place and leave the cemetery immediately.
The two men once again swear to never again smash a pumpkin and watch as the man jumps off from the monument that he stands upon, attacking the three who are becoming terrified at the coming of this ghost, this "skeleton man".
The Graveyard Guardian manages to take out Pierce and Kreskin, beating them mercilessly in his rage.
However, the third grave robber comes up behind Jon, calling him the "Cemetery Clown" and then proceeds to attempt to hit him in the back of the head with a shovel.
However, the speech causes the Graveyard Guardian to turn around and catch the shovel with his hands, he then rips it from the man's grasp and boots him in the face.
Leaving the freshly injured man on the ground he turns to face Pierce, who is also holding a shovel and plans to bash the Skeleton Man with it.
Pierce brings his shovel down hard, unfortunately it is easily stopped by Jon who blocks it with his own. He then proceeds to fight the foolish man, disarming him and finally hitting him across the face with the handle of the shovel.
Kreskin and Pierce were now cowering on the ground when the Skeleton Man once again says, "We want you to leave these hallowed grounds."
As the terrified men lay on the ground they ask him what he means about "we". At that moment the numerous spirits surrounding their own Guardian reveal themselves, simply driving more fear into the men's hearts and so they flee.
It is then that The Twins scream in fear when they realize the third man is running off with their body. The Skeleton Man tells them not to worry as he calls forth his ghost "pet", Wraith and orders him to attack the man.
Wraith obviously succeeds in short order and the Fright Knight comes over to once again verbally attack the man. With the Wraith ready to kill the man, it seems the words sink in this time and the Skeleton Man feels he has done his job, as the cemetery is safe from robbers once again.
But unfortunately for him, this peace does not even last a minute, as when he turns around he is met with ghouls that could only be imagined by the darkest of minds...a trio of energy emanating, living pumpkins, supported by skeletons that enabled their movement.
The Graveyard Guardian believes himself to be unable to fight back and cowers from the impending doom. Yet his attacker surprisingly bursts thanks to an unseen force and the Skeleton Man looks around to see if he can locate it.
It is revealed to be a beautiful young woman, wearing a very revealing armor and wielding a mighty sword. She catches his gaze and he watches her battle his foes for some time but when she is thrown to the ground he decides to step in.
Unleashing his fists of fury on one of the pumpkin monsters he is an easily removed threat. And though it seems that once again it is his end, the woman recovers and saves him from the beast, asking him if he's hurt.
The selfless man tells her not to worry about him but about the remaining creature, however it teleports out of the cemetery before they can attack, taking The Twins coffin with it.
The Graveyard Guardian is now angered and saddened at his own failure and pulls off his face mask. He shouts in his rage as he sums up the events of the night but Tarot tells him to cool down.
She touches him and to her surprise feels a spark, as the Lovers tarot card flashes in her mind. He pulls away in surprise asking Tarot if she felt what he had.
Tarot tells him it was nothing and quickly changing subjects asks him if he's willing to help her in her mission. He agrees to it, as long as it includes getting the coffin back.
She assures him it will not be an easy task but he refuses to back down saying, "If they have what I'm looking for, then bring 'em on, I have a bone to pick with them!"
