The War Against the Owls Continues Here

If you liked the whole batman thing with the owls (who didn't ) and you want to see more of it, you can find it here as the latest batbook starts (not counting issue 0 which was a good one though).

The issue starts with our hero Calvin Rose, the only talon to escape the court of owls returning to gotham. He has heard the news of the aftermath of the night of the owls and wants to make sure batman truly defeated them. Reaching to one of the court’s hideout he is instantly attacked by a surviving talon who reveals that they are not done as they have a battle in which Calvin wins after been gravely wounded but is saved by an unknown man. Once he wakes up paranoid, our hero tries to escape from the man who saved him named Sebastian Clark. He explains that while batman defeated the court, 16 talons who escaped capture are after the court’s assets all around and if they come back with it, the owls will come back even stronger. After been finally convinced that the only way to be finally free from them is to take down this talons, Calvin accepts to work with Sebastian as he gives him his new talon uniform, ending the issue.

    The Good:

I love the true direction of this book is going, it’s not running away from the owls anymore, that was issue 0. Now is a war to finish them off once and for all which I find it to be great as our hero dives into the DCU. Besides that I also love how Calvin works in general (escape artists as superheroes are always great to look in action) as his costume which shows a brighter side of an owl and makes a perfect contrast between the court’s talons that hide their faces completely and wear dark colors making them sinister while this guy has the light colors and just wears goggles (kinda looks steampunk-ish)

    The Bad:

    Nothing at all.

    Overall:5/5

A great start of a series which has really way too many potential and I hope that if this tittle lasts long enough, we can have an epic series which ends the court. As much as we all loved the court of owls concept and storyline in batman….I really hope Talon is the one to put an ending to it. I’m pretty sure that if that were to happen and at the final issue if this title goes well it might become one of the legendary ones just by that. Yes, talon has the potential to become one of those series that people will keep talking for years if he is the one to take the court down once and for all.

The Psychotic Perspective: Talon #1 0

The Gotham TrapThe zero issue of Talon was a solid story, but it left me with one main concern. Can a series about an escape artist really go the distance? In last month’s issue alone, Calvin made four masterful escapes. That may be fun for a time, but how long can a series continue to produce death traps for its hero? At the same time, Calvin obviously has more going on than just his escape artistry even if that is his headlining feature. Does this issue round out the character and show that Ta...

James Tynion IV : Escape from Scott Snyder 0

I must admit i was pretty skeptical when DC announced an all new series based on Talons, the unstoppable assassins we discovered in Scott Snyder's Court of Owls. I mean, the Bat universe already had enough series (11 were implicated in the "Night of the Owls" crossover), did we really need a new one, based on something (the Court, the Talons) we've been fattened with for almost a year? Besides, it was James Tynion IV, Scott Snyder's former student, that was done the task to write this series (de...
