Kirby Brings Hulk Back From The Dead

The title of this issue, 'Back from the Dead' is pretty appropriate - with the return of Jack 'King' Kirby, it feels like a re-energized comic. That's not to say that it's not without some of the standard Stan Lee Silver Age problems... Dr. Banner and Maj. Talbot were last seen falling off a cliff and, predictably, Talbot falls unconscious before Banner, predictably, turns into the Hulk; Then the Hulk makes his way home across the Pacific Ocean by hopping from island to island and from passing plane to passing plane... but all of that stuff is made up for by Jack's excellent artwork. Not only does the Hulk look like a hulk, but all the other characters, vehicles and landscapes seem to have a greater degree of detail and three dimensionality than we've ever seen before in this title. For the first time in a long time you find yourself actually waiting with anticipation for the next issue.
