Sword of Sorcery #4 Review
Sword of Sorcery #4 Review
Amethyst Review
Overview:
Amaya goes back to Earth and has a little adventure.
The Good:
This issue was a nice change of pace from the other issues, seeing Amaya interact with the rest of the DC universe was interesting. The main purpose seemed to be that Amaya could function on her own and in this regard, the issue was successful.
As before, Christie Marx does a great job writing the dialogue and moving the story along at a fast pace without sacrificing the story.
Travis Moore takes over the art for the issue and it is a noticeable difference but it works as Amaya is in a different environment.
The Bad:
This issue lacked the scope and sense of adventure that the other issues had. It was a little disappointing but not an issue killer.
There is also a sense that there was something skipped in another issue, it points to Justice League Dark so that might be worth checking out.
Verdict:
While not as good as some of the other issues, this was a nice detour that showed that Amaya can function well on her own and has a good grasp on her powers. Overall this is a fun little side adventure that fills the issue and shows that the series is not completely isolated.

Stalker Review
Overview:
A man sells his soul and becomes immortal.
The Good:
Marc Anreyko does a good job at turning a fairly generic story into something that has potential. This issue was mostly just set up so it is hard to judge it but it could be good.
Andrei Bressan does a great job delivering art that goes very well with the story and that is a major plus.
The Bad:
It isn’t Beowulf.
Honestly though, the story is a bit on the generic side and the story was almost entirely set up so it is a bit boring.
Verdict:
It is hard to truly judge the story due to the narrative being in such an early stage but the writing shows promise and the art is great so there is some major potential.

Issue Verdict:
This is probably the weakest issue yet but that is not because it was a bad one, it was just different. Everything works out but anyone who is expecting the sword and sorcery style adventure (pun not intended) will be a bit shaken by the more superhero style one here. Stalker also has some potential but it is a bit too early to tell.
