    AMETHYST ROCKS!

    Plot

Meet Amy Winston A.k.a. Amethyst! Plus: Beowolf!

    Art.

Aaron Lopresti does art and doesn't disappoint. The designs are all distinct and well done. The landscape is breathtaking and the actions scenes are fantastic. The colors are vibrant and make the art even better. Lopresti is doing some very good work. That in itself should inspire you to pick this up. The backup art is good, nothing too great but it fits the tone of the story.

    Story and Script.

Wow. This book is a breath of fresh air. It's fun, exciting, cool characters, and an interesting family dynamic few books have. Amy Winston is a girl put in a very interesting situation. She's trapped in a whole new world. It's very interesting to see see how she reacts to it.

The battles are well done, and I really like the interaction between Amy and her mother. The book introduces a lot of different concepts and characters yet it doesn't take away from the story at all. I must add I really like the character, Ingvie.

The backup story is all right. It's well written, and also has an interesting concept. However Amethyst steals the show.

    Overall.

Fun book with great characterization, interaction, action, and storytelling. The art in itself is a reason enough to buy this book. This book reminds me a bit of Hawkeye. The tone of the books is completely different but it's a lot of fun too read, and I feel it could be a hit. Buy this.

This is one of the best unexpected series to come out of the new 52 (from the third wave).  The format is similar to other formats around the comic world (though maybe not a very common setting) and relies on a bit of stereotype in this sub-genre ("what do you mean I am a princess?").  Where it fails from being not the most original it also succeeds in its effective character development and intricate story.  There is really not a lot which is here which has never been seen before, but it is bei...

Sword of Sorcery #1 ReviewAmethystOverview:Amaya deals with the aftermath of the battle, her status, and the new world she is in.The Good:The story is great and has a little bit of everything; it kind of reminds me of Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones and The Night Angel Trilogy, not necessarily in lasting quality as much as in scale and setting and it works. While only two issues in, the characters are being set up and the mythology created are really, really good for only being half of an iss...
