Swamp Thing has stowed away on a ship crossing the Atlantic. But, shortly before landfall, he is discovered and jumps overboard. Washed ashore in Maine, he comes to the aid of a young woman and her brother who have been accused of witchcraft.

At this point in the series it becomes clear that Len Wein's intent with Swamp Thing is to make him a wandering adventurer in the mold of Roy Thomas' version of Conan. This is not necessarily a bad thing - while taking a swamp creature out of a swamp seems a little questionable, it gives the protagonist the ability to encounter a wide range of characters, such as the Puritan townsfolk of Divinity, Maine, in this issue.  While this is not a very noteworthy issue in terms of story (although it doe...
